The Spirit Of Klein Existed In Heil Even though Cheri Walker was hot and sweaty at times, she kept tlze erowd's spirits up, She even helped the cheerleaders in leading songs. These were just a few ofthe duties she was involved in after being elected this year's mascot, I felt that I could represent the school, and get more involvedf' she revealed wlzen asked why she wanted to be mascot, The most memorable part of being mascot, she felt, was at the football games when she initiated the Bearkadettes. Returning with twenty lettermen, eight ofwhieh were starters, Varsity football was off to a good start in 1978. That good start soon became a great season. Three sobho- mores added youth to the team, while thirty-one seniors provided experiences Winning nine often games, Klein ilost only to Conroe 21-20 in the district playojf Yet, after such an exciting and heartbreaking game, they managed to pull it all together to battle back and beat Humble li7-0. When the all-district teams were announced, thirteen KHS players were on the teams. There were eight Kats on the first team and five on tlze second team.
