Leaders Tackle School Problems Very few students realize the effectiveness of student govern ment. The Student Council is a service organization designed for the benefit of the student body where many accomplish ments are made behind the scenes that are not apparent to the student body. Officers give up lunch periods, study halls and recreation time in order to achieve their goals. Spon- soring dances, participating in the Good Sportsmanship League, and motivating class spirit are just a few of the projects into which they put their efforts. The officers attended a camp in Colorado to gather new ideas for an efficient and productive Student Council. Their sponsor is Mrs. Doris Fricke. 'T .3 Top: You mean they are going to initiate us? Pressure, Panic, and Push But We Got It Cut Last fall they felt like gypsies without a fire. Their camp for the first several weeks vvas in a temporary building, drama room, and even sprawled out on the floor of the auditorium. Heads vvere spinning vvith enthusiasm as they finally entered their classroom. Hopes fell as the staff viewed the confusion and mess of the remodeling. Even though they were hampered by a fevv obstacles, their minds kept churning with yearbook ideas. Once the staff was settled, the room became a pressure cooker simmering with ideas, concocting layouts, and stirring in a little touch of personality in each thing they did. The recipe for this great finish vvas pure devotion, determination, and a fevv grey hairs. Mrs. Mary Devine is sponsor. a ,W 8 9 fan 'rife Top: Who says the camera man never lies?
