Each year a new, inex- perienced staff comes in and attempts to capture the school year in pictures and words. lt's a tough job, but somehow each year's annual is bigger and better than the one before. This year was no exception. We came in willing and eager to work. However, the staff found themselves homeless. The Journalism Room was adversely affected by the cafeteria remodeling job. For over six weeks we drifted from the auditorium, to the drama room, to any available T-shack. With- out our files, typewriters, and supplies we were unable to accomplish much until the middle of October. When we were finally settled in our room, the staff dug in and started to work. We gathered club information, drew up layouts, and set up pictures. Mrs. Devine and l rushed and pushed the staff in order to meet our March 7 deadline. Many long hours after school and on holidays paid off when we finally mailed the last pages to the printers. However, there is much more involved in this book than just words and pictures. The words and pictures were carefully planned and artfully laid out by the staff We felt the message shown by the yearbook was Klein 's continued growth by leaps and bounds, the new students coming to Klein from all corners of the globe, and K lein's fine student body. The division pages, with a grid of the globe, illustrates this meaning. Many people gave their time and energies to help put together this memory book. There were our staff photographers whose groans could be heard echoing from the darkroom. Stuart Jarriel, Lamont Cline, Rusty Wallace, and Val Rasmussen were vital to the produc- tion. They stayed after school for club meetings and worked during class and after school to get us the pictures we needed. However, l can not forget Earl Waggoner and Gary Treese, our Journalism l photographers, who used their time and talents to develop and print pictures. Mrs. Hickey and Mr. Harrington always came through for us. They signed passes and ironed out many of the problems we encountered. Mrs. Montague, the Fine Arts aide, was an indispensa- ble help to us. l would also like to express my appreciation to Mrs. Devine, who has taught me so much over the past two years. She is one of the finest teachers l have ever known. Her love for teenagers and journalism are her drive, and drive she does! l got on the yearbook staff last year because l was willing to work. l did not realize what l was in for. She has taught me responsibility, discipline, and how to deal with people. l went in that hole in the wall an eager, immature person. l have since grown into a thinking and much more mature individual. Friends have often asked why l did it. Why l worked so hard to produce the yearbook. The pride it brings me to see my work in print far outweighs all the hard work and long afternoons spent producing it. l 'm proud of this book and so is the staff l hope that you will cherish it as much as we do. 1-ref 46. -af' we . 1 wfff rl 1121 , .
