Their Stride Wos Frozen Too Both the Freshman and Varsity Girls Track teams trudged through the same anguish the boys team did during the cold vveather. Even though their first track meet vvasn't until lVlarch 4, these determined girls also had to withstand the wind and slush which began in January. The team attended eight meets this year and hosted an annual girls' meet in lVlarch. Despite the hardships, the girls track teams raced for the finish line in full stride and honor. tl Wear we Team Showed Samarai Form Swimmers had their own lingo. Who else could understand, Go do your Samarai, or, I hope I don't pud out. As the district grew, so also the number of swimmers increased to enjoy the facilities of Klein's new swimming center. lVlike Turner who swam the 50 yd. freestyle with a time of 21.919 was fast enough to be considered for All American. Kelly Swansom dove well enough to have movies sent in to the National lnterscholas- tic Swim Coaches Association. The overnight trip to the Texas lnterscholastic Swim Coaches Association meet meant fun and swimming this year. Sponsor of the team is Coach Joe Hale. ,,f! Top: Shampoo time. Syl Turner.
