German Club Celebrating Oktoberfest early in the school year. Der Deutsche Vereinf' sponsored by Mrs, Ruth Barney, provided interested students a deeper understanding ofthe German culture and language. In November. members went to New Braunfels to attend the annual Wurstfest. At Christmas time, German carols sung by club members to German families in the Klein community made an especially nice season. ln February Dr. John A. Klein spoke on German heritage in this area. Participation in the Klein Deutschest and a banquet in the spring rounded out the year. The officers are: Rhonda Kornfeld, president: Valerie Champon, vice-president: Tammy Bruch, secretaryg Ginger Ellis, treasurer. SENIORSS' . Leslie Beaver awaits the marshmallow at the end, Spanish Club Encouraging students to speak Spanish and promoting an interest in the study of the Spanish people and land are the primary aims of the club. This year the members dined at Fiicardo's and celebrated Halloween and Christmas in typical fiesta fashion. Three teenagers from Latin America and a former resident of Venezuela spoke to them in January. The big trip ofthe year was made to San Antonio for Fiesta Days. Mrs. Sue Pope. sponsors the group. Each member must contribute work by shelving books, filing cards, and searching through magazine stacks one period a day. Members who help in the AV department deliver, as well as demonstrate, the mechanics of the equipment available through AV. Together with sponsors, Librarian lVlae Howard, lVlrs.
