HELEN HOFFMAN Latin Department Head RAYMOND LABOS Spanish languag Languages are now being taken in full force. With the high interest in for- eign affairs and the growing political crisis' there are more students who wish to take a language. The students of K.U.H.S. are very fortunate in having German, Latin, French, and Spanish offered to them. Students conjugate verbs, speak with the help of tapes, and learn something about the country from the language originated. 22 Was gibt es hier, Herr Lehrer? What is going on here? Hard work and a lot of in- dividual attention to the students by the teachers aid them in providing this education. The science department faculty has the important responsibility of helping To produce the scientific leaders ot the next generation. Labs and lectures are a large part of this education. These instructors not only present The science subiects as educational courses, but also as inter- esting and practical ones.

Mrs. Tanielian explains these problems to her class. Las flores son bonitas, las muchachas tambien. The flowers are pretty and so are the girls, explains Mr. Labos. Languages are in great demand for the fission of cultures. Students are much more interested in other cultures, because of the growing interest in foreign affairs. The language department offers students the chance to learn and bring together foreign cultures. Languages offer a chance to a later career or iust a chance to learn another language, 23
