tudied b English Classes Probably the most essential subject offered is English. And, because of the necessity of this course, each student is required to take it all four years of high school. In this four-year span, the course is divided by semesters. Freshmen, juniors, and seniors each take a semester of literature, and sophomores take a semester of speech. All four classes yearly take a semester of English composition. Many items are covered in the composition classes. Some of these items are: themes, essays, book reports, diagramming sentences, and improving and broadening the stu- dents' vocabulary. Although we all complain about having to take this course, we really know, and must admit, that we could not advance in our other courses if we did not first have an ever-growing knowledge of English. Hm-m-m! Now is verb active or passive? Louise Borgialli asks the familiar question as she prepares her English assignment for the next day.
