Nurse and Librarians Protect and Stimulate Our S' Physical and Mental Health Taking temperatures, doling out aspirins and band aids, peering , down throats, and taking sick students home are only a few of the y activities which keep Mrs. Strode, our school nurse, busy. Her classroom, or infirrnary as it is commonly known, is the place of refuge for many students when they are ill. i Always willing to lend a helping hand in finding a book are librarians Mr. Tidwell and Miss O'Connor. They aid students in compiling material for themes and panel discussions. If a book is not on the approved list, they will be glad to approve it, provided it is not too easy! Don't get excited, don't be misledg Mrs. Strode doesn't always use a tongue depresser, but a thermometer instead. Patient, Larry Worleiu, is no exception. Be quiet! are words said many times a day by librarian, Mr. Tidwell, and his assistant, Miss O'Connor, 24 at - -i 2 .

D. FRENCH, M. JOHNSON, B.S. .M Why won't our fingers work faster? seems to be the common question on the lips of students being tested for finger dexterity by Mr. Ang- stead. Keeping an up-to-date record of the number of students in each class occupies much of the time of Mr. Wendell Smith, Registrar. Personal Attention Given Students K. U.'s Dean of Boys, Mr. French, and Dean of Girls, Miss johnson, have certainly had to train their ears while listening to the excuses given by students of absenteeism. These two apt people have had to learn to be able to tell valid excuses from made-up ones. They also spend a lot of time listening to students' problems and try to help them in any way they can. Trying to get all the IBM tests, achievement tests, labor tests, and other tests corrected keeps K. U.'s Guidance and Counseling man, Mr. Angstead, very busy. He also is at hand to talk to students about colleges and what they offer. Another very busy man is Mr. Wendell Smith, our Reg- istrar. He changes students' schedules, tries to keep the num- ber of students in a classroom equal, and computes students grade averages. Through the achievements of these supervisors, students are better prepared for the demands of college and jobs.

Typewriters to Tea Kettles Keeping an acmrate record of students' grades and teachers' reports is the busy job of the secre- taries. They also type up tests for teachers and run off the mimeographed materials given students. K. U. would certainly be at a loss if it were not for their efficient secretaries. Daily at 11:30 and 12:30 one can see a steady stream of students all rushing in one direction. The direction: the cafeteria, of course! A well- balanced, hot meal is served every day, and for the less hungry, hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches, and other side orders are sold. I In 1 an xo .0 it - I W- , S af , mx.
