Command Master Chief Master Chief Kenneth Green is a native of Laurel, Miss., and a graduate of R. H. Watkins High School. He began his naval career by enlisting in November 1977. After completion of recruit training at San Diego, Calif., he attended Aviation Electricians Mate Class QA School in Millington, Tenn. He reported to the Swordsmen of Fighter Squadron THREE TWO for his first sea duty command at Naval Air Station Oceana, Va., in 1978. After numerous deployments with the 'tSwordsmen on board both USS JOHN F. KENNEDY LCV 671 and USS INDEPENDENCE QCV 621, he then transferred to Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Department at Naval Air Station Meridian, Miss., in 1982. After his shore tour, Master Chief Green attended Advanced Electrician Mate C school in 1986 in Millington, Tenn. Following class completion he reported to the Red Rippersv of Fighter Squadron ELEVEN WF-111, at NAS Oceana, with deployments on board USS F ORRESTAL CCV 571. Then in January 1991, Master Chief Green reported to Navy Recruiting Station in Hattiesburg, Miss., and served as a Recruiter and Recruiter Trainer, where he was selected as Rookie Recruiter of the Year and twice led his Recruiting Station to Station of the Year honors. Master Chief Green transferred to the Forward Deployed Naval Forces stationed in Atsugi, Japan, in September 1993 and completed sea duty tours on board USS INDEPENDENCE with the '6FreeIancers of Fighter Squadron TWO ONE fVF211, Iron Claws of Electronic Attack Squadron ONE THREE SIX CVAQ-1361, and Black Knights of Fighter Squadron ONE FIVE FOUR CVF-1541. Prior to reporting to VAQ-136, he attended the Senior Enlisted Academy in January of 1996. In February 1998, Master Chief Green reported to his first command master chief tour on board USS CUSHING QDD 9851, forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan. In November of 1999 he reported to the U. S. Naval Hospital, Yokosuka, Japan, as the Command Master Chief. In July 2002, Master Chief Green reported to Carrier Air Wing 5 as the Command Master Chief. His personal decorations included five Navy Commendation Medals, four Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, six Good Conduct Medals and various other awards and citations.

Commodore, DESRO 15 Capt. Samuel Perez Jr. was born in El Paso, Texas, April 3, 1958. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy May 28, 1980. At sea, Capt. Perez served as Electrical Officer and Main Propulsion Assistant aboard the USS PAUL F. FOSTER CDD 9641, Operations Officer aboard USS KNOX QFF 10521, and Operations Officer aboard USS BUNKER HILL QCG 521. He assumed command of USS RECLAIMER QARS 421 in September of 1993. During his command, USS RECLAIMER completed an Eastern Pacific deployment that included aircraft salvage operations, tows of submarine and surface combatants, and special operations in support of counter narcotics operations. Capt. Perez decommissioned USS RECLAIMER Sept. 16, 1994. He assumed command of USS VINCENNES CCG 491 in October 1998. During his command, VINCENNES pioneered the use of US Army AH-64 Apache helicopters in support of counter special operations forces in the Korean area of operations. In addition to Korean operations, VINCENNES also tested prototype underwater search systems and operated with Seventh Fleet Amphibious Ready Groups. Ashore, Capt. Perez served as the Gas Turbine Training Officer at Service School Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He has served two Washington DC tours, the first with the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization CBMDO1 as the Program Integrator for the Navy Theater Wide Theater Ballistic Missile Defense CTBMD1 program. Most recently, Capt. Perez served as the Future Ships Branch Head in the N76 Division of the Chief of Naval Operations Staff. As the Future Ships Branch Head, he was instrumental in establishing both the Littoral Combat Ship CLCS1 and the DDQX1 Programs. Capt. Perez assumed command of DESRON 15 Sept. 29, 2003. He has earned a masteris degree in Strategic Planning at the Naval Postgraduate School at Monterey, Calif. He also completed a one-year Federal Executive Fellowship tour at the Strategic Studies Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Capt. Perez's personal decorations include the Navy Marine Corp Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal ffour awards1.
