CAPT Iohn G. Speer CV63 Executive Officer Captain .lohn U. Speer was born in Santa Monica, California. In 1980, he graduated trorn the lib. Naval Academy with a Bachelor ot Science Degree in Systems Engineering and was commissioned an Ensign. While attending the US. Naval Academy, he was a member of the varsity sailing team. He was both a team captain and an All-American. ln 1981, Captain Speer began his Flight training in the T-54C in VT-S in Milton, Florida. He moved to llingsville, Texas for intermediate and advanced training. While there, he tlew the T-2C Buckeye with VT-225 and the TA-4,1 Skyhawk with VT-22. He was designated a Naval Aviator in A 982. His first assignment was to VT-25 n intermedi- atejet flight instructor in the T-2 Following instructor duty, he co pleted Fleet ln August of 1'e9'db, he returned briel'l,f to the United Sta tes. Following helicopter transition training and jet refresher training, he reported to Naval Air Station ifoosevelt Foads, Puerto Pico and the liedtails of Fleet Composite Squadron Eight. There, he served as the Executive Ofticer and flew the TA-4d i'Skyhawk and the UH-SS 'Sea King. ln May of 1997, Captain Speer assumed command. Before Captain Speer completed his tour in 1998, the uiiedtailsn had accumulated four consecutive Battle E awards. They also received a meritorious unit citation for the development of a Fleet Adversary Program and a Coast Guard unit c A f n for their support of counter drug opera- tions i e Caribbean Sea. CMDMC Marvin D. Dublin CV63 Command Master Chief Master Chief Marvin D. Dublin is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina where he graduated from William G. Enloe High School in19'7S. He enlisted in the Navy in July1976. His first duty station was aboard USS RANGER CCV-611, where he was assigned to V-5 division. ln Febru- ary of 1978, he requested and was approved to attend AD school in Memphis, Tennessee. After A school, he returned to the Ranger where he was assigned to the COD C-1 crew as a mechanic. ln January 1980, Master Chief transf C i oi VP-51 at NAS Moffet Field, in Mo g ain View, California. From June 1996 to September 1998, Master Chief was assigned as Department Leading Chief of the Aircraft intermediate Maintenance Department QAIMDJ at Naval Air Station North island in Coro- nado, California.
