Philadelphia in 1775, l,eathernecks have served with honor in every con- flict. The eagle of the Marine Corps emblem denotes the National symbol of our country, the globe signifies world-wide service of the Corps and the anchor represents its attachment to the Naval service. The seagoing Marines of MARDET are a distinct and integral part of the Ship's company. They provide the trained nucleus of the ship's landing force and provide internal security for the ship. They represent the Corps as being combat ready for any mission assigned as well as participating in ceremonial and honor duties aboard ship. -,.--1' 'Av
