For the first time in four years, we were actually able to begin school at the beginning of September, uninterrupted by construction or strikes. There were many other reasons to celebrate this year. We welcomed three exchange students and nine new teachers. Our schedules and report cards were computerized and, although many of us experienced some problems with this system, we still celebrated the fact that KHS had entered the world of high technology. Most of all, we celebrated the things that have always been apparent but are often overlooked at our school. These are the teamwork, determination and energy that were displayed by students, faculty, administration, and support of the staff to make 1988 a year of accomplishments and memories . . . a year to CELEBRATE!! The entire court, including myself, felt that it was a great honor to be nominated for the Home- coming court. This year the whole senior class nomi- nated the court members, but the queen was select- ed by only the senior football players. Everyone looked so nice as did the shiny sports cars that the court would be riding in. There were numerous corvettes in a variety of colors, a Fiero, and a Ferrari for the queen. A lot of preparations went into that night and many people need to be thanked - Shellie Beers, Mr. Fine, STUCO, the football team, and especially the seniors and the owners of the sports cars. It was a very special night for me and I'm glad that the people I care about were there to enjoy it with me. This season's Junior Varsity Arrows followed the long established tradition of Kittanning Junior Varsity Cham- pions, with a record of I3 Wins, O Losses, and 2 Ties. This record for the i987-88 season, established the Junior Varsity Arrows as the W.P.I.H.L. Junior Varsity Champions. Jon Yackmack, Mike Heilman, Bo Durkac, and Greg Shankle finished as the top scorers for the team. In goals, Tim Crytzer and Toby Ruffner turned in an excellent season in net, Aggressive forwards: Nathan Bielski. Brett Atwood, Travis Zielinski, Pete Benvenute, Eric Soloski, and Shawn Cogley contributed by their consistent play and aggressive back and forechecking. The defense was anchored by Chad Hooks, Raymond Brison, Eric Bowser. Lance Zielinski, and Benny Campbell. This defensive crew worked as a fine tuned unit. turning away many attempted shots on goal.
