Five major types of offices participated: legal. county government. social agencies. business. and education. There were three main adxantages to the program: ill The girls gained in- yaluable experience and maturity by being given the opportunity to put their skills to work. 122i The employer received the help of a trained part-time worker, 131 The employer could make suggestions to keep the school busi- ness curriculum current and note areas to be emphasized. Wfildcat Tattletale The Wildcat Tattletale Staff is a group of students who represents the students of K.H.S. These students diligently attempt to inform all the students of K.H.S. activities, of news which concerns them, en- tertaining articles, and students' opinions. Copies of the paper are sent to other high schools to inform them about K.H.S. There is a unified effort to not only produce thc paper, but also uphold the philoso- phy of the Tattletale: Togetherness is the strife and endurance put forth into what they produce. A student is eligible to become a member after he has worked on two plays in any capacity. Activities range from attending classes about theatre to appearing in plays. The club is used to promote interest in drama and theatre as an art and develop interpersonal relationships. Thespians '-'. L, . IN 1 135522 Sn'i0Nf9aL Row 1: Mrs. Harvey, Vickie Cousins. This is your first game. I hope you win. I hope you win for your sake. not mine. Because winning's nice. lt's a good feeling. Like the whole world is yours. But it passes. this feeling. And what lasts is what you've learned. And what you learn about is life. That's what sports are all about. There's no telling how you'll do. You might be a hero or you might be absolutely nothing. There's just no telling. Too much depends on chance. Or how the ball bounces. I'm not talking about the game: I'm talking about life. But it's life that the game is all about. .lust as I said. Because every game is life. And life is a game. A serious one. Dead serious. But that's what you do with serious things. You do your best. You take what comes. You take what comes and you run with it. Winning is fun. Sure. But winning is not the point. Wanting to win is the point. Nut giving up is the point. Never being satisfied with what you've- do point. Never letting up is the point. Never letting anyone down is thc point. Play to win. Sure. But lose like a champion. Because it's not winning that counts. What counts is trying. -Reprinted with permission from Wilson Sporting Goods. ne is the . fl' 4 Q ss N. as 2? ISR? msg FOOTBALL ibn . r . But in football, the best by far, are the ones you learn while you win. In both victory and defeat. the '73 gridders learned some important lessons. Ones which should prove valuable to a basically young team. A record does not always serve justice to a team nor its individuals. In our case, it failed to show the desire, dedication, and leadership provided by the seniors. For players like Roger Lane, ,lay Lewis, .lohn Shepard, John Olinger, Ron Steffey, and Ed Walker, the personal and individual victories were many. Ten Kittanning golfers reported for prac- tice in late August: four seniors, two ju- niors, three sophomores, and one fresh- man. The first of ten matches was September 11 with Ford City as our opponent. Even though this was not a winning season, enthusiasm and competitive spirit were high. It takes real courage to face a stronger opponent, and bettle him to the end, and that is what each member of this golf team did. For many of you, graduation from high school will mark the beginning of formal education for a career yet to be chosen. For othersfit will mean finding a ob and beginning a life- time of gainful employment. Regardless of the individual choices each of you will make within the next few months, I trust that our schools have pre- pared you to handle adequately the tasks that lie ahead. In essence, this is what your education has been all about-to help you make the transition from childhood to adulthood and to become a responsible member of your community. I wish for each of you the very best. Stottlemyer s Message School Board Seated: Carl L. Barton, Mrs. Margaret P, Costanza, Richard A. Mix. Standing: William Smolik, Richard J. William Decock. William Shuster. ur Principal . . . Graduation from high school is a high spot in one's memories. It marks a decided change in an individuals life style. The routine that was the same for twelve years now becomes decidedly different. For many, it means living away from home and not being under the direct influence of parents. An independence, not before realized, is now predominant in youthful lives. On the surface, this appears to be wonderfully inviting. This is the prize so eagerly sought. But is this really true? Only time will give us this answer. Hopefully, the twelve years spent in school has helped prepare you for the chal- lenge and temptations that will be met in this new kind of freedom that has been anticipated with anxiety. It is my sincerest desire that in the years to come, you will look with favor upon what the schools have done for you, in preparation for this new era in your life. S-A It gives me great pleasure to reflect upon my second year at Kittanning Senior High School. I realize con- stantly the amount of ability that is present in the school's student body. Each and every year due to my association with students my educational growth is added to immeasurably. The potential that is evident in this school from both faculty and students is sufficient to keep Kittanning High School moving in a productive manner into a bright new future.
