Neurolir, The Board of Activities was established several years ago when I'rofessor Harry B. VVeaver was principal of Kittanning High School. Its purpose is to direct the extra-curricula activities of the school, control the finances, and present conHiction of Various prospects with one another. The Board is made up of two representatives from each of the three classes of the high school, two faculty members, one alumnus, one member of the Board of Education, the Superinten- dent, and the Principal of the high school. It is an important organization in our school in that it places direct responsibility on student government, and brings about spirit of cooperation between the faculty and the student body. 58 'W' Kit-han-ne IIARRY Km xr: IJIICIIHIII Advism' Roman STONE Ediforirll .I1a.xxN1c I'11'.11m I'icffurCN Il11'11.1111v Lxslildlt ff1'llf'l'lll I-fflitorirzl NICAI. 'llo become a member of the Sigma Delta, the student must have a high grade in one of the sciences taught. This year the club landscaped the front of the high school lot, and took care of the plants around the buildings. The members were taught preservation of wild flowers and the appreciation of nature. Kittanning lligh School has long had as one of its leading organizations, a Senior Orchestra, consisting of members of the upper classes. This year, under the able direction and supervision of Professor blames Colonna, our orchestra renewed its membership and began immediate work for future progress. Several programs during the year were aided greatly by the presence of this large instrumental group, and the calibre of the music rendered by the students was of such a high type that many people declared the orchestra to be one of the best ever organ- ized in Kittanning. 72 Ib . Members of the Salesmanship classes of the high school took complete charge of Gault's store for a day, in order that all the members of the classes might gain practical experience aside from their theoretical knowledge. The system was worked out so that students might take or- ders, receive salesmen, manage advertising, send orders, deliver groceries, and wait on customers: in fact, the whole department store was completely under student man- agement. This project was aided by the regular clerks of the store who trained the students in finding groceries, this, of course, being provided for before the day of the students, management. The project was very successful and will likely be re- peated each year. The football season of 1933 was not suc- cessful in winning gamesg but it was suc- cessful in producing material for next year. No coach could face a more difficult prob- lem than Mr. Stackhouse. He came to Kittanning as a new coach and had to face the task of making friends and building a team from inexperienced men. Although the team won only one game, that being the lndiana game, their line was never outplayed but once. The backfield proved the Kitties, weakness in that it was small and inexperienced. The Red and lYhite XYarriors started clicking when it was too late. To prove this, one has but to recall the Ford City game. The Ford City Q 81 National Athletic Honorary Society team was conceded the ehanee to adminis- ter Kittanning's Worst deleatg but when the game was halt' over, the Kitties had out- played their rivals and had held them score,- less. During the second half, Ford City completed two passes that spelled defeat for liittanning. llith nine lettermen returning next year, liittanning ought to have the best team in the county.
