King Carl was quite a methodical man and instead of calling the villages in the kingdom by proper names such as Craigy Corners or Henry ' s Heights he labelled them with a combination of numbers and letters. The names of the villages under the Count of Fourth started with the number 4 and all those under the Count of Fifth started with the number 5 which was all extremely logical. The King also liked to regiment the villages so that all the people in the village had worked the same number of years in their work term. So, the next number in the sequence stands for the year number of the peasant ' s work term. 9 stands for one year, 10 for two, 11 for three and Since there was more than one village in each stage of the work term a letter was added to the two numbers. So you ' d have a name formed with three parts. And thus we get the name form. Each form was under the rule of one knight to whom the form (around thirty peasants) had to report every morning at nine. After reporting each peasant had to follow a schedule which told him in whose fields he had to work at what time. Each knight watched over the workers in his fields using a bullwhip (commonly known as a tongue) to egg the peasants on to greater efforts.
