DEBATE TEAM g First Row: Walter Laird, Jeff Green, Frank Byrne, Rod Frank, John Fleck. Second Row: Bob Good, Tim Wenham, Randy Calloway, Tom Puskar, Tom Wehe. Marty Caplan. Debate entered its second year at Kiski with Frank Byrne as captain. ln debates at Uniontown High School, Bethany College, and at home, the squad compiled an overall record of sixteen wins and nineteen losses. For a relatively inexperienced team-five are Sophomores-this is an excellent record. ln speech contests, a new event this year, ranks of first, eighteen, second, twelve, and third, nine, were attained at tournaments hosted by Kiski, West Mifflin North High School, and Penn-Trafford High School. Fiandy Callaway, Rod Frank, and Walt Laird are new to debate. They joined verterans Bob Good, Tim Wenham, John Fleck, and Jeff Green. Added to this roster for speech contests are Marty Caplan, John Knox, Tom Puskar, and Tom Wehe. Credit points from the National Forensic League, the speaking honor fraternity, were earned enabling most of the squad to become members of the NFL. The excellent relationship between Kiski's debaters and those of the Ellis School continued this year with a workshop in the Winter Term and a social day in the Spring. Team members look forward to possible state competition in Radio Announcing and to the invitational debate tournament at Valley Forge Military Academy which traditionally ends the season. 132

We hope ln break some of the old stereu- xypcs which have governed this paper, and to introduce new ideas. The nucleus and success of this year's newspaper depends upon the creativity of our experienced staff. such as Clifford Brett. Clmstnpher Hussler. With the addition of some new equipment, the pictures should be better this year. I The lifesavers of the deadline are the typists, who seem to stay up all night to get articles on zo paper. These buys are Kurt Franck. Randall Brnwn and Steven Bono, Master Che Late last summer Kiski's Fond Service Director, Mr. Joseph Gmziusi announced the appoint- ment of Mr. Peter Wannetl as Chef and Assistant Manager. This apP0intment will give Mr, Graziosi more time for purely managerial duties. Chet' Wanneu has been cooking in une capacity or another suite he was l2 or 13 years old. Among his earlier positions he lists the Student Union and the Sutttun Hall Dining Room at Indiana Uni- versity of Pennsylvania, and more recently he was the chef at the Towers Cafeteria of the Uni- versity of Pittsburgh, Being, the son ol' a chef.
