Each morning while pumping fo sea lines or approaching fhe anchorage we were greefed by fhe fishing fleefs. On foggy mornings if was nof unusual fo pass close fo many fishing boafs and occasional- ly sfopping while'fhey unhurriedly hauled in fheir nefs. The fide of fhe war has changed fheir pafferns of everyday living, however, fhe Viefnamese fempera- menf and sfruggles for survival has changed very liffle. Mooring alongside anolher ship af anchor becomes complicaled when seas are rough and fhere is a slrong wind. Using fhe sysfem for fueling Milne- 8 boafs, loaded wifh l0,000 gallon bladders, fhaf KISHWAUKEE had prefecfed fhe previous cruise, we were able 'ro fransfer 300,000 gallons of fuel ashore in less fhan 24 hours.
