H igli cliool Principal to the Class of 619609 MR. FRED CARSTETTER B.S.g NI.Ed. It is very easy for a person who has gone through the trials and tribulations of growing up physically and mentally to sit behind a desk and advise those who are in that process. Physically. I have grown up: mentally. I am still growing. I hope. With this in mind. I would like to give you. the Class of 1960, some words of encouragement and advice. Young people are becoming more educated. are better citizens. and have higher morals as each year goes by. Wie hear each year that there is more juvenile delinquency. students cannot read and write as they used to, their morals are lower. and that the world in general is ugoing to the dogs. In rebuttal. I would like to point out that a higher percentage are going to college. and there are fewer illiterates. church-going today is at a higher peak than ever before, and I would also like to point out the successful operation of our Icinited Nations. Are these the products of a deteriorat- ing generation? You are a part of the improving sr-heme of things. As you go out into the world to become the adult citizens and the progenitors of a coming generation. won't you do everything that you possibly can to make the next generation more successful? It is well to strive for personal and real success but do not lose sight of moral and spiritual success. You can at- tain that by striving to help others and to make this a better world in which to live. Good luck and Cod speed to you in your great venture. Fred R. Carstetter 9
