Thls year there were eleven of us, the biggest class yet, however Donald Bauman had left and Delores Deney and Edna McDermed had 101865 us Thus, our class roll read Ruth Townsend, Grace Bogart, Edna McDermed, Norrene Cottrlll Jackle Nilson Mirlam Paulsen, Carol Cox, Delores DeBey, Melford Stroup, Bill Knowles and Lovell hlllott Me chose Mlss Scott for our sponsor, and how W trled her patlence' Do you remember our freshman party and how Mlss Scott spoke on 'etiquette' all durlng Lnglish class the next day' Then freshman 1n1t1at1on' Remember Ruth's long flannel underwear And Lovell as Carmen Mlrandaf Norrene's get up and B111 as a baby' And, oh, Lovell in a grass skirt' and wouldn't you llke to have some of the candy we fed the senlors thatday Mlriam left us before the year was ended and how we mlssed her' Lovell stlll wears the rlng she Dave hlm the nlght she left But, unlmportant as we were to our upper classmen that year, we somehow found our way 1nto the school 8CtlV1t18S and at least felt of much IHPOTCSHCS to ourselves Grace and Ruth entered the Declamatlon contests, Ruth and Delores sang solos at the Music Festlvals and we believe thls was the year that Delores sang over KXXX and as Lovell, B111 and Melford went out for b8SK6tD8ll, our class was qulte content wlth lts progress th1s flrst year of hlgh school l1fe Next year, our sophomore year, Beth Fetrow, much to our dellght, JD1H8d us but Carol Cox had moved to Agra, and dur1ng the year Wdna hcDermed, too, moved to another town Thls year found the boys ln football as well as basKetoall, and Beth and horrene were cheerleaders Thls year Beth, Ruth, Delores and LoveD,sanv solos at the Festlvals and eth and Grace gave declamatlons again we elected Mlss Scott as our sponsor We gave our flrst play thls year under the direction of Mrs Llss, who was our sophomore ngllsh teacher Tr1s was a bhTlStm8S play and lt gave us a great deal of pleasure to put lt on, because the sophomore year someti es grows pretty dull however, we dld have one more break, that was the 5 X f . . , - . ,T ,,,. . 1 ' - n u e ' - . . . a ' . , V ,, . . What fun that kitchen?--NSweets to the sweet--nuts to the nuttylw Next we were juniors--somewhat saddened because fun we had with our initiation victims! Remember eating in the Beth had left us. Oh, what good to them too, because we Soon we started junior play practice! None of us will ever forget 'Safety Firstw or the wonderful times we had with Mrs. Mac at practices, when we laughed with her at our Wdoingsn in we gathered branches for our play, we knew that Nonly had tried and failed. The faithful thraawent out for and Grace gave readings. This year the one-act play here and at Next came and oh, the quarrels we had' But hiss 8 SLICCBSS And now our last year! Realizing that our school life would all too soon be Agra and four of the juniors, Ruth, Grace, the banquet--what fun we had planning it, scott wa faithful and so our banquet was a thing of the past, we set out to make each day count Bill, Melford and Lovell went out for football, basketball and baseball and all the girls went with them to help them do their best There was more than one tear shed as the whistle blew to end the last football and basketball game of the season, for we realized how near we were to graduation time He ordered our caps nd gowns, announce ments, senior pictures and began work on the year book Je worked hard to make money for the class Sneak Day In the spring the one act play, Fog on the Val leyn, was given and five of our classmates were in it Then came our senior play and more tears as the curtain rolled down for the last time for the senior of 51 Not tnme for many tears however, for the next day we left on our sneak Then back home for the Junior senior banquet Baccalaureate cafe and went, then the last day of school and Commencement was rare, and we marched to om'places and listened to advice from our speaker, solemnly received our diplomas and at last stood with our hands holding the green and white ribbon while Mr hiss cut it in nine pieces, thus severing us from our D1 r school life Ne came, we saw and now we have conquered' Ne all realize how much we are indebted to our teachers especially to Miss Scott who ras been our spon or for four years She has found her way into our hearts and we will always trank her for the trust and the belief which she has placed in us Twelve years of school and now the Senior Class of 51 Jackie wilson, seth Fetrow, Norrene Cottrill, Ruth Townsend, Delores Deney, race Bogart, Nelford Stroup, Lovell Elliott and Bill Knowles, pause on the hope that as we go forth, truth, wisdom and service, our years in Kirwin high And now the Class of threshold of life to bio adieu to our alma Mater we will bear with us the symbol of righteousness which have so patiently been instilled in us during '51 bids you farewell Grace Bogart Farewell Ve, the Senior Class of '51, wish to our parents and friends for their unceas ing encouragement during the twelve years of our school life, and to the faculty and students of the future years, our best wishes for many happy and successful years to come SIGNED THE CLaSS OF '51 8 . 1' T s ' f I - ' ' ' .
