Semor Class Hzstory The members of the Semor Class of 1951 started thexr educational careers September 1 1938 wnth Mtss Marian Currxe now Mrs Lloyd Benson as thelr fnrst teacher The seven who started school were Lorraine Baker Leonard Benson jlm Dahl Ronald Anderson john Ogren Lester Skarm and Sheldon Lyman The next fall as we trudged up the long hlll that leads to our source of learmng we were surprlsed to fmd that we had acquired a new teacher Mlss Marian Sundell That year the original seven were stlll mtact and we were elated to find that an addxtlon Betty johnson had come into the fold We were gradually cllmbmg ln the sphere of education we were ln the second grade Lester Skarm left us for greener pastures but joanne Ecklund quletly offset the loss In the third grade we again changed instructors Mlss jane Sutton was elected to try to drlll knowledge mto our wooden heads We lost Sheldon Lyman that year however we acquxred Audrey Gottberg Maydelle Hedstrom and Gordon Larson In 194-Z the real schism occurred we not only changed teachers agaln but we mherlted the intermediate room Under Miss jeanette Cedergren we mastered the fmer and more mtrxcate rhythmxcal beats of muslc wlth a rhythm band The only change ln our class roster whrle we were ln the intermediate room was the loss of Lorrame Baker and Audrey Gottberg The year of 194-5 led us onward and upward to the jumor hugh room with Mtss Geraldine Glade as our instructor The hxghllght of our seventh year of learning was the play we gave for the Parent Teachers Assoclatlon lt was entitled Wlldcat Wlllle Gets Bram Fever Ever smce the fourth grade our class personnel had been unchanged but we seemed to be able to wear out teachers quite fast for ln the eighth grade we had two of them Miss Lots Lindgren for the majority of the year and for the balance of the year we had Miss Currie or Mrs Lloyd Benson In the fall of 47 we took the momentous step of entering high school By the time we had enrolled for the Freshman year our class had grown to an even dozen Ronald Anderson ed to these were Franklin Bolte joanne Ecklund Milton Glermann Betty johnson Maydelle Hedstrom Gordon Larson Sheldon Lyman and jean Robey Much to the dts pleasure of the Seniors we struggled through mltlatlon wtthout losing a smgle class member That year the Jumor hngh basketball team was runner up ln the county tournament At the end of the Freshman year Ronald Anderson left us to continue his educational career ln Schleswlg The tradxtxonal all school party that we gave whxle we were Sophomores consisted of a hayrlcle and a treasure hunt combined We also had an addltton that year when joyce Paulson jolned us However at the end of the year she left for Kingsley and Sheldon Lyman left for Schleswtg Durmg our junior year we gave our class play entxtled Take It Easy It was a success much to the surprise of our dlrector Mr Robert Franken On April 29th we gave the junior Senlor banquet After much deliberation we decided on the theme of Bon Voyage and we like to thmk that tt was the best banquet ever glven any Semors that graduated from K1-IS jean Robey moved from our mldst at the end of the jumor year to attend school ln Webb Well we have fmally struggled through all twelve years of school As we approach our graduatlon we fmd that we stlll have three of the seven that started mn the kindergarten Leonard Benson jlm Dhal and john Ogren Others that have joined us durmg our course through twelve years of education are Frankhn Bolte joanne Ecklund Mllton Gnermann Betty johnson Maydelle Hedstrom and Gordon Larson Our Baccalaureate Services will be held May 13th and Commencement May 15th Our high school days are fast commg to a close Now we launch ourselves out into the world to try to gain knowledge by ourselves Some of us wlll be gomg on to college and some of us wlll be staying at home whlle others will be called mto the services of our 'matron but wherever we go we will always remember our school days ll , u n 1 1 K I , n 1 .
