SPEECH This year in speech we have covered everything from parliamentary pro- cedure to debates to radio speaking When we were on the unit of radio speaking w gave news casts news commentary and a radio play, The Potato Salad King We debated the question whether or not we should have a student council It came out a tie We gave a pantomime for the assembly entitled The Duches Bounces In In another unit we learned about plays stage settings etc Everyone that took speech has learned something he will not forget We are a l glad we took it ENGLISH II The Sophomores have found that English is not only work but can be fun The first part of the year had to do with radio in which we learned many terms concerning it We had much work on parliamentary procedure and some on how to develop better paragraphs Next we learned how to analyze sentences and also studied about verbals phrases clauses and various parts of speech At the beginning of the second semes ter we read the House of Usher by Poe and made a notebook of words to enlarge our vocabulary Miss Byers our instructor enjoyed reading the House of Usher as much as her students AMERICAN GOVERNMENT Our government class consisting of the Juniors and Seniors was taught by also how to be good citizens ENGLISH I The Freshman English class during the past year learned how to communicate with the modern world by correct usage of words punctuation the technique of conversing with others practicing group discussions communication by mail studying the different parts of speech developing sentences and paragraphs using the dictionary and public speaking This course which we have successfully completed will be a great benefit to us in our future years of study and life JOURNALISM Journalism is a subject that has never been offered in our school until this year We studied newspaper writing publishing and advertising We published The Knromkle a weekly newspaper which we sent to all of Kiron vicinity Miss Byers was our instructor Z0 . e ll ' I1 l ' , ' - - - u on . . . . FRESHMAN CLASS OFFICERS Presxdent Marlene Wmter V1ce Presxdent Marlyn Baker Secretary Treasurer Lo1s Schurke INITIATION ln1t1at1on was a small task for the Sen1ors thls year Balloons f1lled with water seemed to be the center of attractxon We wore long sk1rts wxth men s shxrts and Jeans t1ed with bxnder twxne around the ankles Our ha1r was bra1ded on one srde wxth curlers on the other s1de Our faces were marked up w1th cream and hpstmck SOPHOMORE CLASS OFFICERS Vxce Presldent Sheldon Lyman Secretary MayDe11e Hedstrom Treasurer Frankhn Bolte Class Sponsor Mr Franken SCHOOL PARTY As 15 the usual custom of the Sophomore classes of K1ron H1gh School we the class of 48 49 held an all school party on October 15 After much debate we dec1ded to have a hay r1de The h1gh ,school students and teachers were dr v1ded mto Z groups wh1ch were the teams for a treasure hunt durlng the hay r1de Volleyball and other games were played after returnnmg to school Lunch chmaxed the evemng CLASS PARTY The Freshman class and the teachers were guests of the Sophomores on December ZZ when we had a Chr1stmas party Christmas carolmg games and lunch const1tuted the act1v1t1es of the evemng ZZ President............ .... . .... ......................TeanRobey
