ken 'dance Nipher lunior l-ligh School advisors and faculty members have the great responsi- bility of orienting the seventh grader to the new life of a high school student. The difference between grade ocnd high school environment often makes adjustment dif- ficult for some students and the sincere advice and counseling activities offered by these men and women solve many prob- lems. Through the initiation and use of the core system, teachers are better able to help- students make the transition to the junior high school type of classes. The results of the efforts made- by these people are shown by close cooperation achieved between teachers and Nipher Students. NIPHER ADVISORS Standing: Mr. Clodfelter. Zlzofdt ' kzaccgd The chief task of the Kirkwood High School advisors and faculty is to prepare and guide students toward higher educa- tion and future vocations. Through the counseling activities of these two gro-ups, graduating seniors are better prepared to face increasingly more difficult college studies and the business world. ln addi- tion to their regular work many of the faculty members have taken the sponsor- ship of clubs and other activities backed by the school. ln this way friendship be- tween student and teacher is given an op- portunity to grow. The advisors' and facul- ty's eagerness to solve individual prob- lems will long be remembered by grateful students. K.H.S. ADVISORS Mr. Via, Miss Abbott, Mr. Cravens, Mr. Behrens. K.H.S. ELECT IVES In selecting his course of study, every Kirkwood High student is allowed a liberal freedom. of choice. This freely exercised privilege gives young people a chance to obtain valuable experience which may aid them in their determination of future vocations and college study. Because they receive excellent counseling, most students are spared the unpleasant- ness. of learning from experience and guided into courses for which they are best suited. But elec- tives are more than a testing ground for judgment. They fill the gap be-tween academic and home life, providing an outlet for relaxation and a chance to acquire worthwhile skills. By offering a variety of electives, K. H. S. hopes to further in every student an interest in the many facets of education. zefzcdadag zeedam a aice Page Twenty Ioan, printing mighty pretty!
