Zlzofdt ' kzaccgd The chief task of the Kirkwood High School advisors and faculty is to prepare and guide students toward higher educa- tion and future vocations. Through the counseling activities of these two gro-ups, graduating seniors are better prepared to face increasingly more difficult college studies and the business world. ln addi- tion to their regular work many of the faculty members have taken the sponsor- ship of clubs and other activities backed by the school. ln this way friendship be- tween student and teacher is given an op- portunity to grow. The advisors' and facul- ty's eagerness to solve individual prob- lems will long be remembered by grateful students. K.H.S. ADVISORS Mr. Via, Miss Abbott, Mr. Cravens, Mr. Behrens. K.H.S. OFFICE Standing: Miss B. Bedell, Mr. A. Koerber, Mrs. H. Ballard. Seated: Mrs. Martin. One combination of factors necessary to the effective functioning of school facilities is a competent staff in the princip-al's office in- corp-orated with conscientious parents and in- terested citizens of the community. All work handled by both the Nipher Principal's Office and the Senior High Principal's Office is of considerable importance and thus demands the expert attention given to it by the office secre- taries at Kirkwood. Equally as important to the operation of our school system is a group known as the Parent Teachers Association. Their responsibility is mainly one of promoting better teaching conditions and acguainting others with the ne-ed for improvement in school affairs. Throughout the past they have intitiated new methods to be installed in the various aspects of school life and have alWCIYs been active in such campaigns as the bond issues, which promise more ideal conditions for edu- cation. ken 'dance Nipher lunior l-ligh School advisors and faculty members have the great responsi- bility of orienting the seventh grader to the new life of a high school student. The difference between grade ocnd high school environment often makes adjustment dif- ficult for some students and the sincere advice and counseling activities offered by these men and women solve many prob- lems. Through the initiation and use of the core system, teachers are better able to help- students make the transition to the junior high school type of classes. The results of the efforts made- by these people are shown by close cooperation achieved between teachers and Nipher Students. NIPHER ADVISORS Standing: Mr. Clodfelter.
