2 Interfratemity Baseball Series The baseball games between the fraternities Cincluding the Inclependf entsj held more interest for' most of the students than any other form of athletics, ,probably due to the fact that many more students had an opportunity to play. It was a iight to the finish and no one could tell earlier in the season who would be the sec' ond winner of the cup. When the smoke of the battle had cleared away and the cheering had died down it was then that the winners could be distinguished. They were the warriors of Phi Sigma Gamma. BALLMM, Pansy, Pitcher The greatest baseball man of all time at the A. S. O. and will go to the big league. Good first baseman and out' fielder. Good natured and never known to dispute a decision. The idol of the fans. LADD, Si-ioR'rv, Catcher Jut t d b ll l and Fullaoi sip? a payer FERGUSON, Famer, Second Base Captain A scrappy captain and knew the game. A brother to the big Ferggy of big league .fame. Hmuus, HJIMJ' First Base Could pitch when called on, but liked to play around first base. O'CoNNon, Omar, First Base A neat fielding first sacker and a thinker. SHICK, HAPPY, Third Base The best fielding third baseman to ever grace the A. S. O. diamond. ln..-,W L . f Q .74 I ffm X ,.., ln K, I ,q , D ., X Baseball HE 1923 baseball squad reported at Robinson Field early in the season all full of pep and eager to get a good start in order to keep the reputation of the A. S. O. up to the usual high standard, but Mr. Weather Man offered some serious opposif tion. The baseball days were very few and the season was a very short one. The first game, with Rathburn, Iowa, was played at home April 4 and proved to be a very easy one for the Rams, the score being 1f26. April 26 the A. S. O. visited Parson's College. This was a very close game, the Parson's team outplaying the Rams until the last two innings when our team scored three points and were able to bring home the bacon by the close margin of 4f3. On April 28 the Quincy Blues came up for a little fun, but found that the A. S. O. had a real team and not a bunch of Dubs, consequently they returned home with the short end of the score which was 18-7. May 8 Parson's College came to Kirksville for revenge, but found a much stronger team than before. The Rams won the fourth and iinal game. of the season 27f16.
