2 MM fliiiil-'15 Q3 VAN Ess, b.VAN,'l Guard Van proved himself more valuable in basketball than on the football field. SWAIN, Jos, Fofwafd and Guard The midget of the squad and a fighter that made up for his small stature. MILLIGAN, KNu'rs, Center and Forward A dangerous man in the pinch. Will develop into a good center. LANE, DnooPna, Forward A Freshman that will be a regular next year and spec' ializing in long shots. Dan' gerous at all times. NEUMEISTBR, ..TED,', Forward Ted broke into the linefup many times this winter and was a clever goal shooter. His floor work as uncanny. SPRINGER, Forward Was called home in mid' season after making a regular berth. The most promising candidate in many years. Page 208 Interfraternity Basketball For the first time in the history of the school a series of basketball games were played be' tween the fraternities Cincluding the independf entsj. Eighteen games were played between January 28 and February 14. Many good players were seen in action for the first time in a matched game. The inf terest was high, it being impossible to name the winning team until the final game was finished. The Sigma Phi Sigma offered a cup to the win' ners and at a mass meet' ing of the student body was presented to the Acacia Club. ' I l I, ,w m Q ,Y Q .gf 'fQfQ.?f-.4 'n ' - x WA' iiLJ sf ZA Lziggzg. On two different occasions during Feb- ruary athletic relations were resumed with the K. S. T. C. In order to schedule these two games Coach Sermon was forced to disqualify three regulars, thus leavf ing the team badly cripf pled. The result was that the Teachers tuck' ed away two hardfearnf ed -victories, the first IQ'I'7 and the second 1Q'I5'. These games were two of the most exciting and interesting ever played in Kirks' ville. ' With but three ex- perienced men back in uniform next year Coach Sermon will be com' pelled to organize an entirely new team. But in this he will be greatly aided by the excellent material from the pres' ent freshman and sophof more classes. The most promising men here now are Swain, Neumeister, Van Ess, Springer and Lane. 2-,g,f-Kiifljfx Af ..f' --Nmap. -V-- WM W--1 A--.,..-..,, ..- ,......,.. .i..,.. .-.,,-.-.-.,- , ,,, , , ,, C h II 5 1 s -0 Q .59 ,,..,..,... CALDWELL, 'hMITCH,'l Center George developed many new style shots and when right was a clever basket shooter. A threefyear man. BALLMBR, PERRY, Forward Steady, graceful, clean and the comedian of the team. Perry has been a dependable for four years and will be a big loss to the squad. Sarmou, 'Uc, Forward Ug has proved himself valuable as a coach and as a player, always scoring a goodly number of the points. The rating of the teams played shows that he was never afraid to match the team against the best this section offered. Pane 207 l EL f-4 E M
