Senior Class History In September of 54 there were s1x members who enrolled 1n the freshman class at Kipp Hlgh School They were Etta Thomas Donna Henry Melvln Grlggs Dw1ght Hanke Ierry Kohman and Davld Shler The second semester Don Nelson joined our class At our class meetlng we chose Mrs Bakalar as our sponsor And elected the fol lowlng class offlcers Presldent Donna V1ce Presldent Dav1d Secretary Treasurer Etta The boys partzclpated ln baseball basketball Glee Club and mlxed chorus The g1rls partlclpated ln Glee Club Pep Club and mlxed chorus Davld Melvln Dw1ght Etta and Donna were members of the band The same seven returned for the sophomore year The class offlcers elected were Etta Presldent Davld Vlce Presldent Donna Secretary Treasurer and Mr Hanke Sponsor For a short t1me Dalm Iantz was a member of our class until he moved away Don Nelson was admltted to the hospltal ln November for an operatlon and was able to f1n1sh the school year The second week of school we lnltiated the freshmen and gave a party for them and the sponsors the upperclassmen and the teachers All the boys took part ln baseball and basketball Melvin was team manager Dw1ght and Ierry made the f1rst twelve on the basketball team Etta Donna Dwight David Don and Ierry were in mixed chorus and Glee Club Melvln Davld Dw1ght Etta and Donna were ID band Dav1d was 1n the boys octet Etta and Donna were 1n Pep Club and trlple trio Donna was Secretary Treasurer of the Pep Club Etta took part ln the one act play Etta was also a member of Student Council and Annual Staff The class enrollment at the beginnmg of our Junior year was S1X They were Davld Shier Dw1ght Hanke Me1v1n Griggs Ierry Kohman Donna Henry and Etta Thomas Class officers were President Etta V1ce Pres1dent David Secretary Treasurer, Donna Dwight David and Jerry made the first ten in basketball All the boys went out for baseball the first semester Dwight and Jerry played baseball the second semester A A 1 I ' - Q . . n ' I - . 1 1 1 , . . l I 1 . . . . At our class meeting Mrs. Hayden was chosen as our class sponsor. Our class officers, annual staff, and student council representatives were elected as follows President --------------------- L86 Secretary-Trea surer ----------- Iane Annual Staff ----------------- Jerry Lea Student Council ----------- Marilyn Lea The upperclassmen were overcome with laughter when we entered the school build ing on the morning of initiation, after the Sophomores with the help of the Juniors and Seniors, had so graciously smeared us with an overdose of lipstick. All the students attended a hay rack ride given for the Freshmen on the evening of September 16th. The party was planned and given by the Sophomores. On October 31st, the annual Halloween party was given by the Freshman class. The party was held in the high school gymnasium. The teachers and their families were invited. The students were sent on a scavenger hunt, and when they returned we played games and had a dance. Pop, hot dogs, potato chips, and candy were served for re- freshment. Both Ierry Breer and Everett Kogler went out for baseball, basketball, mixed chorus, and Boys' Glee Club. lane Shier, Lea Bachofer, and Marilyn Hays sang in Girls' Glee Club, and Mixed Chorus.
