The KI-IS basketball team enjoyed one of the best seasons in the school's history. The roundballers rolled into the regional tournament with a 19-3 won-loss record. At the regional the Chieftains squeezed rugged Inman before bowing out to Sylvia in the semi-finals. The Chiefs were runners-up to Kingman in SKID play. He finished second in the State, missing first by two inches. See right. The sophomore medley team finished first in the Kiowa Freshman-Soph- omore Meet. Joe Anderson and Richard Aberle supplied the Junior High trackers with enough points to win third in the SKI... Track fans know how much difference a scant fraction of a second or a few inches can mean in a track or field event. Alex Jim and Spike show you how far they missed in important events during the season. Coaches Stone and Carman also get in the spirit and help demonstrate. Track had a come-back at KI-IS for the 1952-53 season. With a blend of experienced seniors and husky soph omores, the Chiefs showed well at every meet they entered. They nabbed six firsts in the SKL., twice as many as any other school. Larry Rankin f WQT1 the SKI-1 John Alexander takes a low mlle- hurdle. He was second in the regional.
