QHHMIXQI f-rusoxofzs KIOWAO' CHIEF DIQQKQ DEBATE 1928 Last year fox the first time in seven yeais Kiowa High was iepresented by a debate team This team won the seventh congressional district championship and was defeated in the semi finals for the state championship by Pretty Prairie This year the Kiowa High debate teams consisting of Phyllis Burgess and Howard Strother on the affilmatxve team and Melba Hendricks and Herbert Strother on the negative team were victorious until the state finals when they were defeated by Blue Rapids The debate was held at Kansas University At the debate tournament at Southwestern College Winfield Kansas we won The debates this year were won from the following schools Medicine Lodge Coats Greensburg Preston Haviland Plains Sedgwick Elhnwood and Oakley The debate coach Miss Anderson is to be complimented on her work and not too much praise can be given her for her time and efforts PIIKWUIU- 991---UID 9 G lIlU 96P4 I1ll1 ll14 l l l l . , . first place by defeating Arkansas City in the finals. y y ' i ! 7 l I .
