I I CLASS PROPHECY The prosperous clty of Kinta lay expectant beneath the June sunshine of the year 1970 Crowds of gaily dressed people were gatherlng ln the stadium of the spaclous high school grounds Thls stadium, by the way, was the pride of not only the school, but the entire community, for it has been completed at the cost of thousands of dollars and was the scene of many lmportant out door gatherings Today its seats are rapldly f1ll1ng with hundreds who want to have a part ln the reunlon of the class of 1950 'A fine class,W asserted gray haired old Mr Donahue. 'As fine a class as the school ev r sent out I was Super intendent oi the school when they draduated and we were all certainly proud of them ' 'Are most of the members here? asked M Sherly who of course was also getting quite old by then 'I'm told they are expectlng a large representation ' WHB spoxe truly, for in a few minutes eager faces were watching the approach of the big Air L1ne Limited, whose fllght was carrying, as lts cargo, the class of 1950, and not a one of the class was miSS1Hg The stage was set and all was ready for the reunion of the class who was graduated twenty years before As the big plane came to a ston and the na nv re be gan getting ofl, e large group of old friends of the class of 1950 began rushing toward the plane to greet them, an who should be leading the group but Mr Perryman, who has been sponsor of the class back in 1950 M Perryman now getting a little bald on top of his head was bursting then with sheer excitment to see the members of the class again Close behlnd Mr Perryman trotted Mr Sherly and M Dmuhn who were eager to see lf they could recognize all the mem bers of the class of l95U and sure enough they weren't very hard to recognize although in the group were heads wlth a graying lock and heads beginning to lose their locks, but the old fire of enthusiasm burned in thelr eyes and youth glowed 1D thelr hearts. The first to be recognlzed was none other than Nllburn Norris who, back 1D the old days had been notorious as 'Cut Up', is now seen to blow hls nose with great gusto and then wipe the tears from hls eyes at the ghought of being back once more wlth his old pals Nllburn has become a plumer's assistant the one who goes back for the monkey wrench and can't find lt He says he will contlnue 1n that restful occupation until he dies of old age The next one recognized vas James Louis Ford 3 overdeveloped lmaflnation and underdeveloped dlgestion has produced a wonderful result the ability to thlnx up some of the Nlld6St tales at Uractlcally 5 minutes notice In tact this ability is so remarkable that his conversation is 9-3-most ent!-lely of Welrd tales Those who know hm well neve believe him and strangers seldom do But being an intelligent YOURS man he turned his tale telllng ability to the most reaarxable PTOf6S510n that of an author H13 lat est boon 18 hlsbiography entitled 'The Fords and I' and it will soon be shown on the screen starring Betty Grable ' .' - . d and to share with them the old memories of twenty F3 8 ago. 5 a 0 , , W . Hi 3 , . 0 NSXt to come was Jerry Bryant who became the owner and manager of the huge chain of restaurants lnown all over the world as the Eat a Run Restaurants HB is now the champion pancake flolper of the world It seems that Ronald Lytle was the next to step out of the plane He always had an agree 1ve nature, great streng th, and the abllity to bear up under hard knocks He is now belng hailed as the heavyweight champion of the world in the Collseum at Rome, now the Internatlonal Stock Exchange dell I never thought Janice Henderson would be a farm I seems that shortly after graduation she came to be the vife of a chlcken raiser She has spent 20 good years on a chicken farm over on Blue Mountain She is doing good job because all she has to do is feed and water their chlckens, gather the eggs and wait on her hubby Just look who we have here It's Judy Bullard I hear she has become the wealthy owner of a sanitarium where fat people are made thln and screwy ones pleasingly plump, 311 by the help of her wonderful formula for which she promises so much and whlch does occasionally produce results the coal mlnes business She and her husband own a large coal mlne near Mcourtain and 6 50 every morning finds than s1de by side, Mr Balles dressed in overalls, down in their come the conductor of a select tour of the world, lect coal p1t Besides that she is a good housewlfe As everyone kept looklng at the class getting off plane they saw one middle aged blond headed woman stump toe and almost fall out of the plane Just who should be other than Verda Few She was always a great talker, much lnformatlon, not often accurate and dld not count adgectives before they were hatched Miss Few has now the hel' ha her ing ur on the polnts of lnterest that her pas engers were passing, Here comes s mebody from the plane doing a dance step as she walks along My goodness' It's Sue Eden, who always said she would be a dancer in a circus She certainly kept her word They say she is the most clever wire dancer in the world what a salary she must get' Believe it or not There is one old w man there that they didn't recognize And it was sue Weatherton with the most go geous gown on She says 'Yes, and it came from my OWU SIIOP in Paris Well, I never thought she would be such a good seamstress But they say it is beautiful and she did make it herself. There was one member of the class who always was little different. And he decided not to c me on the plane, instead, he drove his truck. And it was Earl Tucker. Became the propriertor and owner of a large dairy farm in New York. As the milk man, he can ride around town all day and night without fear of inquiring glances fr m polioemens or night watchmen. He is happy at last and making money as well. Next , here comes saneone with a book under her is Anna Doris Shelton who used to sit up all night a book. She is now librarian in a public library city of stars. Yes, Hollywood California. She can book and at the same time watch the movie stars go by. arm. It :reading in the r8ad a er. t i . A I a It looks as if Fern Fowler Bailes has really fell for . it I . . 0 d . Q a Hs Now pranclng off the plane is Label Hamilton. The 60th President of the United States who was always very activein politics. She ms been Mayor of Stigler, U.S. Senator, and speaker of the House of Representatives. She is now marri- ed and all her usband has to do is live in luxury. Now stepping off the plane is the old man known fo his ability, to copy off of anyone he wants to. That is old Wayland 'Bo' Melinley. He now owns a dry good store and if a merchant gets anything he likes he will bay same and BQll it 2 cents cheaper just to get all of the trade. That was one thing he was known for in his high school days back in 1949 and '50. Well, well, I think I see a middle-aged women, still a little small for her age, but has acquired quite a bit of knowledge since her high school days. It's Virginia Ford. A smart girl she was in her Senior year. She is now teaching in a college at Pittsbu g Penn. Would you think that this next young man is Kelley 'Pee Ween Yount? Be has changed remarkably from a skinny youth to a nice sized man of 290 lbs and the owner of one of the largest goat ranches in Southern Texas In his Senior year he was so small the boys could walk over him but I bet they couldn't now. Next co es a big suprize Miss Maxine Shelton with her big blue eyes and all of the talent that she had in high sc hool and maybe a little more She plays a violin and she now plays for the Harmonic Orchestra of New Yo k Also app ears on some of Fred Waring's programs well, her legs haven't grown any longer I don't think but it is still the same Kate Hubbard Yes sir, and she can still play basketball too She is the best known all star player in the world and also coaches in Flordia Here comes the girl who we alwyas thought would make a good housewife and sure enough she did It's Louise Vance who now has a very beautiful home on Broadway in New York and is married to one of our local boys She is also a very good cook. I see our Salutorian of the Senior Class of 1950 now. It's Bonnie Cloud who, if had g won great honors Instead, she life and is living near Lequire Bill Burgess! My goodness have known him if it wasn't for it was in his high school days one on to college, could have married and is now a house sakes a life l wouldn't that cracky smile Just as Bill now has the sweetest little blond and they are raising pet skunks for the circus in California Over by the side of the plane stood a young woman do ing a little sketching of the people as they came in and doing it very well at that It seems to be Helen Shelton with her vigo ous little fingers She illustrates mag ried and has to help her husband make them a living Behlnd her stepped none other than Francille Wbrtham who always had superiority complex Evldently someone, when she was very young, praised her to exces for s methlng or bragged on her too much because she doesn't seem to have recovered Her delight and skill in gettlng others to do thelr work whlle she watches, and her ab1l1ty to answer a question no one else could points to but one calllng, that of a school teacher She rs now found in Kinta Hlgh not only bossing her own pupils but almost everybody on her floor. Also, her poor husband at home O I I O . Q 0 O O ' Q I I I O I O , - azine stories and newspaper articles. She is also mar- I 4 . r . ' S . . . . . p .
