Q C GDQIOI' 1273 ff' Well we re off on our long awarted mp' Leavmg Youngstown ln the atr condrtroned and reclmrng seat coaches v1a the Balttmore and Ohro Rarlroad we started on the ftrst part of our Joumey 8 15 AM We arrwed at Washmgton Umon Statron After breakfast at the Gateway Restaurant we vlsrted the Bureau of Engraving and Pnntrng walked to Washmgton s Monument and vrsrted the Observauon Room where we vrewed a wonderful panorama of the crty next on to the Whrte House where we saw a number of rooms and halls and on to the Nattonal Gallery of Art Burldrng for luncheon rn the Govemment Cafeterra We walked a short drstance to the Srnrthsonran Insntute thence on to the Department of Justrce Burldrng for a gurded tour through the F B I home of the G Men We vtsrted the U S Caprtol for a complete gutded tour of the Senate and House of Representatrves Trme permrtted so we traveled to the Lrbrary of Congress before remrnmg to Unron Statron Wrth our day spent we left Washtngton wrth many memortes to travel on to New York Frrday May '23 we left the Hotel New Yorker for a lecture tour of Lower New York and Statue of Lrberty rncludrng Frfth Avenue the Bowery Battery Txmes Square Chmatown and a boat mp from the Battery to the Statue of Lrberty termrnatrng at Rockefeller Center Next day everyone looked trred I wonder whyn In the afternoon we attended Radro Crty Musrc Hall and rn the evening we saw our ftrst Broadway plays Lrttle Abner or My Fan Lady Saturday we boarded a bus for the Unrted Natrons Burldrng and then on to a srghtseerng crurse around Manhatten on the Hudson East and Harlem Rrvers Sunday mormng we started the day off rrght by gomg to one of the many churches We walked to the Emprre State Burldmg to vxsrt the Observatron Tower That nrght we boarded the tram at 7 05 PM and arrrved rn Youngstown on Monday mornrng May 26 1958 What a tnpf Everyone was happy to get home but also at the same trme a l1ttle trred - ---- - - - ------- - - - -4 ia ------------- -- ----3 ----- -- -- 4 M .57,'f,l,' 1 , jf ' ' ffl- 1'

Chas jfsfozy 1 'A 0 i X 54 Takrng a look back on the members of the class of 58 I see Gretchen Schroedel Ronnre Penn Ruth Cratsley Drck Wade Maxrne McK1n1ey Lynn Sutton Pat Bloss Gene Goss and myself Kay Keller all enterrng the frrst grade and Mrss Thompson our teacher welcomrng us at the door Thrs rs our frrst year of school and everythrng rs so new and drfferenct but we wrll become accustomed to studyrng and very soon In the second grade the class 1S d1v1ded rnto two groups and the honors are d1V1d6d between Mrss Thompson and Mrs Porter By thrs trme we can read a lrttle and even wrrte our names Mary Jane Papp and Alfred Wrrght have thought ours a good class so they have Jorned us Drck Wade has decrded to go to Vernon thrs year Onward we push to the thrrd grade and there we meet Rrchard Alderdrce and Crystal Waters Mrs Scott rs our teacher and by thrs mme we have been rn a couple of the Chrrstmas operettas colored many prctures and made drfferent grfts to take home to our proud parents Fourth grade we have company the frfth graders Mrs Brooks and Mrs Scott share the dunes of takrng care of us Altho we thrnk we are capable of dorng anythrng they g1ve us help rn many ways Russell Lauer and Barbara Trttle have entered rn our class and Drck Wade rs back wrth us agam Mrs Porter hkes us she must because here we are rn the frfth grade wrth her as our teacher When Valennne Day comes rt rs a brg treat because the box rs so pretty and full of Valentrnes Srxth grade wrth Mrs Trunkey and have we grown well some of us anyway Brll Mott IS our addrtron thrs year What a change rn the seventh grade' We are brg folks now and get to be upstarrs wrth the upper classmen and change classes wrth them We now have to make money to go on a senror class trrp and we get to have class partres too Mrs Garlock rs our home room teacher ru the seventh and rn the prcture of the erghth grade I see Mrs Mrller as our home room teacher After our frrst 6 weeks rn the nrnth grade Mrs Garlock has come back and says she wrll be our advrsor trll we graduate Rrchard Alderdrce left us but Tom Gross has come to be rn our class Now rn the tenth grade Herb Noble Jorns us and helps make thrngs go round We have a lot of studyrng to be done thrs year In the fall of 1956 Ardrth Wrnnrngham enters the class and wrth the addrtron of Rrchard Alderdrce at mrd year the class rs now complete Our Junror play concessrons selhng St Patrrck s Day Dance and Prom all keep us busy not to mentron a lrttle studyrng now and then In the twelfth grade we number 21 Thrs year goes so fast and we do so many thrngs Pep rallres are a must to support two actrve ball teams rn the fall and wrnter basketball games frll rn evemngs not used by band or other outsrde actrvrtres there rs the annual to get frnrshed rn February the operetta to present rn March track meets the wonderful Prom baccalaureate class nrght and frnally on May 20 graduatron Your Crystal Gazer l rl v K I I - I .
