Too Much Heaven was the 1980-81 Homecoming theme. Audrey Amaro, Homecoming Queen for 1979, was Mistress of Ceremonies. Everyone met in the auditorium for the morning assembly. Each candidate entered to their selected song played by Charla Wagner. Brenda Stegman was escorted by Keith Montgomery, Pammy Lauber by Teryl Rose, Lisa Stanton by Joe Cramer and Mendy Strong by Rene Danler Charla Wagner accompanied Kim Kurth, LeRoy Stegman, James Espinosa and Debi Oliphant as they sang the theme song. Shane Shanks and Loretta Katz followed with a piano duet to Stairway to Heaven. The Senior choir members sang What I Did for Love and the KHS Jazz Band played Morning Dance. Members of the KHS faculty did a skit on Homecoming Fashions. The KHS cheerleading squad did a routine to Stomp” then followed with a short pep assembly. The assembly ended with everyone singing the Alma Mater. The traditional all school parade was held downtown for the crowning of Mock Homecoming Royalty. Crowned as Queen and King were Russel Woodworth and Darrie Schmitt. Other candidates and their escorts were Kevin Fredelake and Melanie Burkhart, Gary Smith and Sharon Laudick. Monte Hirsh and Jan Dockendorf. Flower girl was Miss Joan Walkowiak and the crown bearer was Mr. Tim Higley. The evening activities began at half-time with Pammy, Lisa, Brenda and Mendy riding around the field in convertables driven by Mr. Bert Lockard, Mr. Tim Higley, Mr. Duane Adams and Mr. David Smith, respectively. The girls were led onto the field by their escorts. The traditional white football mum was presented and pinned on by Darla Ryan, Janet Gray, Jackie Humphries and Tammy Hattrup. The robe was carried onto the field by Sally Miller, Pep Club President. Tonya Herrmann carried the flowers and Adam Laufenberg the crown Brenda Stegman and Joe Cramer were announced as 1980 Homecoming Royalty. The Homecoming Dance was held at St. Nicholas where the gym was decorated in blue, pink and silver. The band. Natural Gas, was selected to provide the entertainment. The dance was sponsored by Pep club. 29
