A very unique class schedule was adopted with most subjects scheduled for a two-hour block of time. Some subjects, notably the foreign languages, shorthand, senior math, band, and vocal remaining 55 minutes in length. Creative writing, consumer math, physical science, family living, and music appreciation were among the new courses added to the curriculum. This year, the superintendent met at regular intervals with the entire teaching personnel and has encouraged increased communication between the various schools. Mr. Scott served as both High School Principal and Director of Athletics and represented KHS at most of the WKEA meetings. 3 Cogs That Keep The “ Wheel Turning Secretaries play an important role in keeping our school functioning Miss Stallard Counselor Mrs. Lynam Secretary to Superintendent Mrs. Burkhart Bookkeeper Kristie Poison Secretary to Principal They Serve Behind The Scenes The cooks who prepared many nutritious meals for the students and faculty are: Mrs. White, Mrs. Rose, Mrs. Werner, Mrs. Schroeter (head cook), and Mrs. Proberts. At halftime of the Kinsley-Ness City game, the band formed a heart and played What the World Needs Now Is Love as the queen candidates were excorted onto the field. Cindy Froetschner was escorted by Robbie Holland, Cathy Gillett by Lyle Kregar, Sandra Rose by Marty Priest, and Marlene Schaller by her twin brother, Maurice. As soon as the candidates reached their places on the field the band stopped playing. A breathless hush fell over the audience as Mrs. Jake Roenbaugh (Susan Etling), 1951 Homecoming Queen at K.H.S., announced Marlene Schaller as the new queen. Cocaptains Dale Jarvis and Don Little presented Marlene with the queen's robe, flowers, and crown which were carried by flower girl Sundi Cargill and crown-bearer Eric Kuhn. Then Don and Dale delightfully bestowed on Marlene, the traditional kiss. Happily, Queen Marlene was led off the field by the captains to reign over the second half of the game in which Kinsley was downed 19-6. Seniors Remember Classmates Should you go first and I remain To walk the road alone, 1 11 live in memory's garden, dear, With happy days we've known. In Spring I'll watch for roses red When fades the lilac blue, In early Fall when brown leaves call I'll catch a glimpse of you. Should you go first and I remain For battles to be fought, Each thing you've touched along the way Will be a hallowed spot. I'll hear your voice, I'll see your smile, Though blindly I may grope, The memory of your helping hand Will buoy me on with hope. Should you go first and I remain To finish with the scroll, No length'ning shadows shall creep in To make this life seem droll. We've known so much of happiness, We've had our cup of joy And memory is one gift of God That death cannot destroy. —Albert Rowswell SANDY MARTIN 67 JANE SMITH Seniors Elect Officers To Lead The Class Of’72.
