English and communications are offered at all grade levels; speech and journalism are junior and senior courses. French and Latin are the foreign languages available at KHS. Richard Herrmann won the coveted Ed Davis Award for his entry, a bent-wood rocker, in the Hays Industrial Arts Fair. This project was a new concept in Industrial Arts because much research and experimentation had to be done on bending the wood. Practical Arts Vocational Education is an important phase of the extensive curriculum offered in Kinsley High School. Through this department, students can gain the necessary knowledge to enter a profitable trade after graduation. Courses offered in the business department include typing, shorthand, bookkeeping and office practice. In home economics, three years of study are available to the student. The Make It With Wool contest and the Tea and Style Show enable the girls to display their handicraft.
