Tliey meet the first Monday of every month, and approve all expenditures for the month and the hiring of new teachers. RICHARD FLANDERS Social Sciences Instrumental Music Athletics Social Science 1960-61 Kinsley Teachers' Association The officers for the 1960-61 Kinsley Teachers' Association included: Keith Kirby, president: Mike Akin, vice-president: Jennie Smith, secretary-treasurer; Leslie Kilgore, delegate; and Gerald Sibley, alternate delegate. The association is composed of the legislative, social, executive, program, teacher welfare, public relations, and activity committees. Some of the duties of the various committees are to assist in desirable civic movements and to contribute to the advancement of the teaching profession. The fall faculty and family picnic, Christmas party, spring barbecue, and spring breakfast are among the social activities enjoyed by the members of the Kinsley Teachers' Association. MR. The purpose of the organization, known as the Student Council, is to develop responsible citizenship in the Kinsley High School by placing in the hands of the student body, duly represented as specified, the opportunity of conducting as many of the activities directly related to the student in his association with his fellow students as the Council shows itself capable of efficiently conducting. Student Council offers student participation in school government which is a support for the American way of life. Kinsley Student Council is in charge of such activities as planning the assembly programs for the year, striving for inter-school relationships, interesting itself in the general welfare of the school, promoting worthy projects, and presiding over the assemblies. “K” LETTERMEN The sponsors of the K Lettermen Club this year were Mr. Guiot and Mr. Akin. The officers were Dick Grybowski, President; Verlin Schroeter, Vice-President; Gerald Schmitt, Secretary-Treasurer; Don Herron, Sergeant-at-Arms. The K Letterman Club is an organization for any boy who has lettered in any of the four sports during high school. As one of their many good deeds the boys donated a movie camera to the school. To earn the money for this and other projects the boys sold ballpoint pens with the sports schedules on them. The primary purpose of this club is to promote sportsmanship among athletes. Young salesmen. 29 Future leaders at work. PEP CLUB LOTALLT SUPPORTS TEAM In all games, win or lose, the spirit of the Pep Club never ceases. The Pep Club is well known for its constant and striving effort to promote pep and arouse school spirit. Other activities include decorating and sponsoring Homecoming and presenting skits for pep assemblies. A point system and uniform has been established by the Pep Club officers and will take effect next year. In addition to publishing the yearbook, the KiHiScho staff sponsors the election of the KiHiScho King and Queen. This year the Staff sponsored a box social to raise funds for the yearbook and to announce the yearbook royalty. The candidates, Pat Sibley, Leona Kallaus, Charlene Kingry, and Niki Lewis, were escorted onto the field by Dick Grybowski, Don Herron, Kenny Behnke, and John Rincon. Co-Captain, Butch Schroeter crowned Pat Sibley Homecoming Queen of 1960.Co-Captain, Gary Noland, draped queen Pat with the traditional robe and presented her a bouquet of roses. Mike Akin and Signey Holmstrom carried the crown and roses. Pat was led to her throne on the field where she and her court presided over the second half of the game against Cimarron. The Kinsley Coyotes were victorious with a score of 17-0. Queen Pat reigned over the homecoming dance in the gymnasium following the game. The theme, Red Sails in the Sunset, was carried out in the decorations of miniature ships and tiny sunsets. With the close of that eventful homecoming day, Pat Sibley had taken her place among the royalty of K. H. S. K.H.S. HOMECOMING SNAPS Why the big smiles? H. S. The wrestlers of K.H.S. had a very successful season this year. Their success was not in matches won, but in the great amount of experience gained. The highlight of our wrestling season was the District Wrestling Tournament which was held in Kinsley. In this tournament one of the Kinsley wrestlers, Larry Ackerman, qualified to participate in the Regional Tournament, and while there took fourth in his weight class. The end draws near.
