Flinch and checkers, sprinkled with music was par- ticapated in, after which, a light repast consisting of Zona's birth- day cake, an elegant fruit cake and a delicious fruit salad was served with apples as a top-oii. Then the guests having reported a lovely time, departed for home along towards the wee small hours of the night. The German class was treated by the Prof. and his Frau to oranges, grapes and candy, at their home during which Mrs. Mac entertained by telling of old Bels Niche, who visits the little Dutch boys and girls along with the Kris Kind and how they lovingly and joyfully await for both at every Christmas. The class play came and the cast of characters was picked out. Olympians delivered their second program, doing more credit to the society than their first, and was appreciated by several visi- tors as well as the grammar room. Decorations of cedar and beautiful pink and red flowers adorned the walls, and the Lyceums enjoyed a slam as well as a comp which offset the slam con- siderably. The Bad Job was rendered by efficient actors. The High School met at Professor's house in a watch party. Games of Jackstones, Somerset, and Chanticler were indulged in after which the watchers went to different bells in town and at the appointed time the town echoed with the knell of the old Year and tl en reechoed with the welcoming chimes of the new. liuch joyful heart Cjoyful after a week's vacationl sorrowfully, fsorry because school reopenedl wends its crooked path towards the ban of its happiness, the dear old school, and makes a resolu- tion to make better grades in future, never trouble dear teacher much and to always be cheerful. Everything starts out lovely. The New Year seems to be giving us a good dose of Grip and cold epidemics. Everyone in school either has a frog or a vacant seat. Mrs, Bn-iggsw and Co.. met at the Prof's for rehearsal. The basketball team drove over to Blue Mound on this night, with the fell purpose of defeating the Blue Mound boys. After arriv- ing. bills were seen posted which stated that the Mildred boys would play the winners. Knowing this, and not wishing to deprive the ll. M, team of what they considered their due, our boys gave them the game at 32 to 19, then the second game was watched in which Mildred was beaten 18 to 3. The boys came home happier in the thought that they could have wiped Mildred all up, and wishing they had not let Blue Mound off so easily. Seniors, Juniors, and Sophs. in unsion-why does everything pile up so on us? Gee, l wish I was a Fresh. I ?-EZ-jjj::,-Isn't it nice and slippery-the question was asked, but answered by a few onlywit was. All who have not fallen down this morning stand on your head? All those who answered not at once, tried to say so on their way home at noon, in more ways than one. Beginning of last half of term today. A change. of program in- stituled in all except the subject at recess, which was, and is hitfllllllllllllllll, Jackstones by boys and other knocks by the girls
