Executive Officer Lieutenant Commander Daniel J. Montgomery was raised in Montpelier, Vermont. He graduated from Ottowa University. Ottowa Kansas with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology. After gradu- ating. Lieutenant Commander Montgomery enlist- ed in the United States Navy. Nuclear Power Pro- gram as a Machinist Mate in 1976 and served aboard USS LAPON QSSN-6617 from 1978-1979 achieving qualification in submarines prior to his selection to Officer Candidate Schoolg where he was commissioned in May of 1979. Following Officer Candidate School, his sea tours included Communications Officer and Antisub- marine Warfare Officer aboard USS INGER- SOLL IDD-9901, Weapons Officer aboard USS FANNING QFF-10761 and Combat Systems Of- ficer for COMDESRON THIRTEEN. Assignments ashore have included Instructor at Officer Candidate School and Department Head School. Prior to reporting to USS KINKAID QDD- 9651 as Executive Officer, Lieutenant Commander Montgomery earned a Master of Science Degree in Information Systems while at the Naval Postgrad- uate School. Lieutenant Commander Montgomery's awards include the Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal. In addition he has var- ious campaign and service medals. ,...,.........----. Commanding Officer Commander David R. Mackinnon was raised in Yarmouth, Maine. He graduated from the Univer- sity of Maine with a Bachelor of Science Degree and then attended Officers Candidate School where he was commissioned in November 1972. Following graduation and commissioning, his seg tours included Gunnery Officer aboard USS BLUE RIDGE CLCC-191, Operations Officer aboard USS BAGLEY QFF-10691 and Engineer Officer aboard USS OKINAWA CLPH-31. Commander Mack- innon also served as ACOS for Communications on COMCRUDESGRU FIVE and Executive Officer of USS SCHOFIELD QFFG-31. Assignments ashore have included instructor at the NROTC Unit, Maine Maritime Accadamy, where Commander Mackinnon subsequently par- ticipated in the Advanced Education Program and received a Masters of Business Administration, and on COMNAVSURFPAC Staff as Force Opera- tions Officer. Most recently, Commander Mack- innon was assigned temporary duty to Commander, Joint Task Force, Middle East in support of Op- eration Desert Shield. Commander Mackinnon as- sumed command of USS KINKAID CDD-9651 on 8 August 1991 Commander Mackinnon's awards include the Meritorious Service Medal Cwith gold starj, the Navy Commendation Medal twith two gold starsi and the Navy Achievement Medal fwith gold starl. ln addition, he has various campaign and service medals.
