TO THE CLASS OF 1938 Leaving the Post, its kinships, its shelter. Into far forests shrouded in shadows Forth fare the hunters. Gay ring their songs as, stout snowshoes creaking, Outward they swing, full packs on their shoulders, Seeking new triumphs. Scattered afield, the hunters, to wander Fearlessly, taking trails to far places, Trying their manhood Aye; hut by Spring, released from their labors, — Laden with pelts, perchance, if they prosper — Shall they forgather Back at the Post, where, eager to greet them, Friends shall await to welcome, old comrades Share joys or sorrows Hail, Thirty-Eight! Your packs stored with knowledge, Song on your lips, stride outward high-hearted Into Life's forests! Smooth be your trails and happy your hunting! RICHARD C. BESTOR “Dick” came to us as a Third Former in the Fall of 1934. “Bess” went out for the Intermediate Team and made it. In the two years following, he became a star on Mr. MacDonald’s Team winning his small “K”. The Basketball Team found a snappy player in “Bess”, during his sophomore and junior years. This year he won his major “K” for basketball. In the Spring of each year, he turns to baseball and during his Fourth and Fifth Form years, he was on the first squad. This year “Bessie” changed his Fall activities and turned to Soccer. As an outside wing, Dick did much to promote his team's success, and won a well- earned minor “K”. As a coach for the Third Formers, in the annual Inter class Basketball Series, Dick saw his team victorious over the other contesting forms. This year he has played third base on the First Baseball Team. Dick's extra-curricular activities include Photography Club and the T'lews Board. Sports are Dick’s “bread and butter”, his keen interest centers in them at all times. Golf is his favorite during the summer. In regard to hobbies, we find that photography keeps him busy, especially in the summer months. “Bessie” has a grand stamp collection and when time permits he pursues this interesting hobby with great zeal. In a few years our very genial “R. C.” will be a great surgeon. Next year he goes to Trinity, and after a four-year course there, will continue his medical course at Harvard. His athletic ability, plus his conscientious spirit in all things, will reap their due rewards. His sense of humor and wit have merited him many friends and we hope the years to come have much in store for him. Best of luck, Dick, and may the years ahead of you be happy and suc- cessful ones! 10
