The Junior Red Cross was organized in December, 1943, throughout the entire school system. In the grade schools and the high school such ac- tivities as making utility bags, scuffs, bed-jackets, wash cloths, toys, menu cards, greeting cards, favors, games, library cards, envelopes, and ash trays were soon under way. Coat hangers, games, buttons, books, and magazines were collected in large numbers. The results of this work may be seen in the two pictures on the opposite page. The Council, pictured above, was organized on March 6, 1944. Each homeroom in the junior and senior high school is represented on the Coun- cil. It has sponsored two basketball games for the benefit of the Junior Red Cross fund. Miss Esther Saxe is the advisor of the Junior Red Cross in the schools of the township. The advisors in the individual schools are: Miss Eleanor Staub in the high school, Miss Lenora Wardan in Trucksvilleg Mrs. Martin Porter in Shavertown.
