FROM YOUTH TO MATURITY 5 Two hundred yers ago our na- tion was bom. As a nation we have, over the past two hung hund- red years, grown into an ever changing world. We, .like child- ren, have undergone numerous growth changes. We have expanded our boundries, frontiers, and hori- zons. And we have influenced countless millions who seek to share our beliefs. Two Hundred years later, though still growing, we have now reached a certain $tate of ma- turity. We are better able to care for others as well as ourselves. We now look upon power as something more than military or monitary strength. We sense the needs of others better than we ever have in our young years as a nation. You, the students of Kingston High School, are advancing into a more stable period in your lives also. As students, you are becom- ing, often too quickly aware of your role in society. Often you feel it is a society that really does not care for you. The closer you come, however, to joining this society, the more you will be- come aware of your kinship to it. You must remember that with maturity, also comes obligations. You must face these obligations strongly, purposely, and maturely. The youth of today must also be remembered and understood by the mature society that produces them. We must try to understand their growing awarenesses, and remember our own maturing pro- cess and the growing pains that went with them. As we all move from Youth to Maturity, let us go hand in hand to insure our country's continuing progress and growth, in a world of ever shrinking dimensions. Let us all strive to become members of a mature society that will bring to the world, peace, and liberty to all.
