Since then she has taught in our English dept, and has been our Librarian. We would like to dedicate this years yearbook to her for these things, but above all be- cause of the many years of hard work she put into publishing Kingston's Year- book. We are sorry to say that she is no longer our yearbook advisor. The Yearbook Staff STUDENT LIFE 5 6 6 FROM YOUTH TO MATURITY 5 Two hundred yers ago our na- tion was bom. As a nation we have, over the past two hung hund- red years, grown into an ever changing world. We, .like child- ren, have undergone numerous growth changes. We have expanded our boundries, frontiers, and hori- zons. And we have influenced countless millions who seek to share our beliefs. Two Hundred years later, though still growing, we have now reached a certain $tate of ma- turity. We are better able to care for others as well as ourselves. We now look upon power as something more than military or monitary strength. We sense the needs of others better than we ever have in our young years as a nation. You, the students of Kingston High School, are advancing into a more stable period in your lives also. As students, you are becom- ing, often too quickly aware of your role in society. Often you feel it is a society that really does not care for you. The closer you come, however, to joining this society, the more you will be- come aware of your kinship to it. You must remember that with maturity, also comes obligations. You must face these obligations strongly, purposely, and maturely. The youth of today must also be remembered and understood by the mature society that produces them. We must try to understand their growing awarenesses, and remember our own maturing pro- cess and the growing pains that went with them. As we all move from Youth to Maturity, let us go hand in hand to insure our country's continuing progress and growth, in a world of ever shrinking dimensions. Let us all strive to become members of a mature society that will bring to the world, peace, and liberty to all. You now have to take Speech in your Freshman and Senior year for a one semester course. This year they added a new for- eign language to our curriculum. It is Spanish, taught by Mr. Szybala. He also teaches a new Science fiction class that is added. The English program has main- ly the same program as last year with the following classes: Speech, English, Journalism, Drama, Creative Writing, American lit, and a new poetry class taught by Miss Miller. This year's En- glish teachers are Mr. Bell, Miss Mil- ler, Mr. Szybala, Mr. Hilbert, Mr. Vohsen, and Mr. Taylor. 22 MATH DEPARTMENT The math course has not changed very much this year. The only thing that has changed was the amount of credits. This year you only have to have one credit in math instead of three that we had last year. The math classes this year are as follows: Seventh and Eighth grade math, Geometry, Algebra I, Algebra II, and High school math. The teachers for math this year are Miss Crane, Mr. Perry, Mr. Hilbert, Miss Staudacher, and Mr. Whittaker. 23 MUSIC DEPARTMENT The Kingston High School Band classes worked hard this year. Some music classes they taught this year were Junior High Band, Jazz band, Senior Band, Music Theory, Choir, and also Elementary Band. 24 HISTORY DEPARTMENT The History Curriculum has changed alot this year. The credits now needed to graduate are 3 1 2 instead of 3. Gov- ernment has changed because it is only a half year course instead of a full year. Our Science teach- ers this year are the following: Miss Staudacher, Miss Miller, Mr. Whit- taker, and Mr. Peet. 26 SHOP DEPARTMENT Shop has changed a little, but not too much. Our basic program is still about the same, with General Woods, Advanced Woods, Drafting I, General Metals, Hot Metals, Home Repairs, and Furniture Refinishing, along with our Round Robin Program, for the Sev- enth and Eighth grades. Mr. Maki, and Mr. Nesbit are our shop and drafting teachers. We've had some good looking proj- ects out of the shop and metals classes, which were displayed at the art show. Keep up the good work! 27 ART DEPARTMENT 28 PHYSICAL EDUCATION This years Physical Education pro- gram is about the same. Words by: Gerry Goffin Music: Mike Masser Do you know, Where you're going to, Do you like the things that life are showing you? Where are you going to, Do you know? Do you get, What you're hoping for? When you look behind you there's no open door What are you hoping for, Do you know? Once we were standing still in time, Chasing the fantasies that filled our minds. And you knew how I loved you but my spirit was free, laughing at the questions that you once asked of me. Do you know, Where you're going to, Do you like the things that life are showing you? Where are you going to, Do you Know? Now looking back at all we planned, We let so many dreams just slip through our hands. Why must we wait so long before we see, How sad the answers to those questions can be. Do you know, Where you're going to, Do you like the things that life are showing you? Where are you going to, Do you know? Class Motto I'm not afraid of tomorrow I've seen yesterday and I live today. All week you could feel the excitement build- ing as all the preparations were being made. Then on October 10th, the streets of Kingston come to life as the festivities traditionally started with the parade. The band played, being lead by the Pom Pon girls, Majorettes and our Drum Major. Following the band came the floats, the cars filled with nervous can- didates and the court, and our newest addition; the drill team. Later on the field, the floats were judged, the crowns presented, and the Cardinals rose to victory, 44-0 over Kinde. First Place, Juniors: From Sea to Shinging Sea Ring Out a Cardinal Victory. Mr. Taylor, came to us with no prior yearbook experience but turned out to be the main source of strength in pulling everything together. When all the hassle was getting to the rest of us, he calmly put us back on the right track. Somehow he managed to keep his smile through it all. This year the Girl's track team was superb against the league. Many people on the team set new records to challenge next year. Next year the track team will be even better. 105 FRESHMAN BASKETBALL TEAM FRONT ROW: (L--R) J. Randall, B. Drake, J. Bastian, D. Nicol, T. Lewicki, T. Bledsoe, P. Mileski, W.
