The way we come High School Kingston Mich. The way we go 2 The way we once were THE WAY WE ONCE WERE Remember the days of 10 fc candy bars and I5 fc soft drinks. And how can the Senior class forget our Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Win- gert. Kindergarten was the time of building blocks and telling Mrs. Wingert that Jim Bruce hit me in the shoulder. Before we knew it, it was first grade. With first grade came our teachers Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Ste- venson. We were a smart group of first graders (that is smart with our tongues). The mature second graders. (That's what we called ourselves) That was the year we found out that five apples and seven apples didn't make 13. (By the way if you're wondering it makes 12. ) The fall of 1965 brought third grade, and with third grade came Love. The in thing to do was to go with someone. Remember the famous note, I Love you, do you Love me yes or no. Fourth grade was a so-so year. That year Mrs. Denhoff found a few fourth graders in her class. It seemed Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Wal- lace ran out of room. Before we knew it we were in fifth grade, that year was some- thing else. At noon time we would all get together, play records and of course do the latest teen dances. We thought we were COOL! We were all ready for sixth grade. Everyone wanted to get in Mr. Walk's class and have fun. But a few kids got the honor of going into Mrs. Beith's class. Three words were on our mind Spelling, Geography, and of course having fun in Mr. Walk's class. A strange thing happened in sixth grade. Usually teachers get done teaching in June, Mr. Walk left in April. (Probably to avoid the rush.) As we stood outside that cool summer morning in 1969, we all wondered what seventh grade would bring. It brought a lot: lockers, changing classes, and dances. With Eighth grade we also found the coming of our first float. We all had fun building it. It look- ed terrible and believe me it was terrible. Now came the big stuff--we were freshmen. We got initiated and that was fun. No one had to wear deodorant that day because all you could smell was onions. Our Sophomore year came, but before it could leave we all had to take Biology. Biology was the class that we finally found out where our brain, stomach, and our kidneys were. In the year we became Juniors, came the fantastic Junior Prom and our play. And now after all these mem- ories we are Seniors. This year we felt like big Seniors, Time flies, so the Senior class of 1975 says to all underclassmen, Make the best of your school days because before long, you'll be remembering the way you once were. 3 The way we act The way the elementary lives raises trouble? 7 Class rooms in action K.H.S. pep assembly in action Makings of our athletic complex The way school life is at night Adult Education The Adult High School Completion program con- ducted on Wednesday evenings has been accepted very well. Government is being offered for credit purposes and quite a few residents have taken advantage of the opportunity. Cake decoration taught by Mrs. Donald Anger has created quite an interest in the area. Many goodies Cake decorating Ceramics are being created by this class. Ceramics under the tutelage of Mrs. Albert Rug- gles are turning out many figurines and statuettes of beauty. Oil painting and picture frame construction is under the guiding hand of Mr. Ray Finley, a local artist who is becoming quite will known in art circles. Oil paintings Oil paintings 12 M. C. l,d; A.A. Students Poll What do you think of the new curriculum? O.K. But could use some changes. They could offer more classes. No comment. What do you think of KHS spirit? I think it's excellent (Rah! Rah!) I think there could be more spirit at the games. What do you think of the football team? Over confident. Sexy guys. What do you think of the KHS teachers? Some are too strict but as a whole their O.K. Unfortunatly we can't change them. Do you think Richard Nixon should have resigned? I don't think he should have. Definately Yes One thing you would like to change? Not just juniors and seniors working in the Library. Mr. Bledsoe's paper work. Longer Lunch hour. What do you think of the yearbook? I think there a good idea but they need an improvement over last years. No comment. It's great. 13 f 'I As we end our days at KHS And begin on a new journey We fondly remember The way we once were. 15 Junior band 18 Stage band Pom pon girls 19 Junior choir Senior choir Glee club 20 Audio-visual technicians Art club Student council 21 Librarians Cafeteria assistants Office assistants 22 Varsity club Newspaper staff 23 Yearbook Staff Advisor..........................................................................................Mrs. Opperman Substitute Advisors.................................................................Ms. Miller... Thats right you” for without you , we wouldn't be able to put out a year- book. So once again thank you . We could have never put out this book (I think that's the right line) if it wasn't for Mrs. Opperman. Her guiding hands kept us all on the right track. Through all the hassles, she still kept her cool. But this year Mrs. Opperman had help; she thought she would take a vacation so she left us all in the hands of Mrs. Brzezinski and Ms. Miller. With all the guiding hands how could we miss but to give you a good year- book. An Editor usually has a lot to worry about but, with the photographer, Section Editors, and their staffs my job was a lot easier. So thanks staff. The entire staff hopes you'll always cher- ish this book for its not just pictures its The Way We Once Were .
