That would have to be the pride and SPIR- IT OF 72 This year one of our biggest sources of spirit was our great football team. Other years our team was a weakspot, but this year it was one of the best in the history of Kingston. We hope that as you look through this book, not only now, but in ten years, that the pictures and faces bring back the many mem- ories of a year of pride and the SPIRIT OF 72 will return to you: Co- Editors, Ruth Sheila 2 3 Spirit in the skies may bloom. 4 LOOK AT IT THIS WAY— SOMEONE HAS TO PLA Y THE PART OF A FLOWER IN THE CLASS PLA Y ACTIVITIES Last Year’s King Dave Lalko Crowns Our New Queen Ruth Spear King Jim and Queen Ruth. For the first part each freshman was given a list of things to wear and things he had to do in school. The second part took place that night in the cafeteria. Each Freshman had to push a piece of paper with limburger cheese on it across the floor with his nose. When he finished he had to get in line and pass raw eggs under his chin from person to person. Other events included passing lifesavers with toothpicks and putting bolts into pop bottles without the use of their hands. There was a dance following these events. 18 FUTURE HOMEMAKERS OF AMERICA BACK ROW: Suppon B. , Roberson J., Long L. , Hahn B. , Ollia R., FRONT ROW: Lalko D. , Dibble R. , Hahn D. , Reimann S. There's the intangible, infinite spirit in each of us that's with us for life. The '72 Cardinal appeals to that spirit by binding within this book all those moments that show the Spirit of '72. Not only is spirit portrayed in sports, although there's much to be said for our successful football season and for our basketball team who are at present striving for the regional championship. But there is also the spirit of students working and being together, the student and teacher reaching academic goals, the every- day spirit so noticeable in halls, cafeteria and classrooms. We wish to thank you for being participants in the Spirit of '72. Special thanks go to our Yearbook advisor, Mrs. Opperman whose patience exceeds all limits and to our tremendous staff whom we could never have done without. The fine photographs in this book are to the credit and talent of Kevin Barrons and Mr. Booth. Kevin has done a spec- tacular job of being on the spirit scene and giving us a wide selection of photos. We'd also like to thank Mr. Ray Figg and the American Yearbook Co. , our administration and faculty for their under- standing and cooperation for all the times we've interrupted classes, and to our advertising patrons for their support. We hope the memories of the Spirit of '72 stay with you forever. Look around you, be aware, be involved, join the action and atmosphere of the Spirit of '72. --Sheila G Ruth Co-Editors 99 Are you sure you got my best side?
