They wait with anticipation to hear what the zoo- keeper has to say about their favorite cubs. On November 2, the doors of the high school were thrown open to re- ceive a procession of parents. The par- ents had the opportunity to spend a few hours in their child's shoes: going to classes, listening to teachers, and exploring the wonderful world of high school. ln the Senior Cafeteria, the dif- ,igvf-ii Mqgwt xv ferent departments and organizations set up displays for the parents' enlight- enment. Said one parent, lt's been a long time, but walking through those doors brings it all back again. ATTENTION PLEASE: The course require- ments are explained by Mr. Gelling. YOU'RE A PAIN IN THE NECK! The pair of giraffes makes their way through the wil- derness of the Bronx Zoo. I I Bronx Zoo Trip I Let's go see the pandas! was the common cry ot the science club as they tumbled out of the yellow tank of a school bus. Armed with supplies ttwinkiesi, artillery tradiosi and surveil- lance equipment icamerast, the sci- ence club members were were ready to storm the Bronx Zoo. To stake-out the area, the unit was divided into pla- toons and commanded to observe the different domains. A very special task force was assigned to the childrens' zoo section. Ca- moflauge techniques were perfected by scaling human-sized spider webs, burrowing through trench-like mole hills and taming vicious animals tlike sheep, goats, and guinea pigsj. The recruits managed to escape the zoo relatively unscathed, although some battalions had a brush with dan- ger tthe park rangerst. YUPPIES R US: With his usual exuber- ence, Matt Tratner shows he is ready for Harvard Law. The debate eliminations: the last chance for those who hadn't yet re- ceived their qualifications for the state tournament to get one, and a promis- ing opportunity for the rest of the Speech and Debate team to have a cardiac arrest. ' rr K Ve .fl ti Peer pressure effects everyone, but high school students are particuarly subject to it Health teacher Mrs. Quigley recognized this and started Students for Students. The club visited the junior high school to talk to the pre-teens. Some of you think you may be forced to smoke or drink when you get to the high school, said secretary Sue Ankudavich. She em- phasized, no one will force you, and you don't have to be embarassed to resist. Under the leadership of President Marret Sand- berg and Vice President Amy Wang the group has made an impact on the community. As Dermot Coll put it, Just say no...you have to be yourself. STUDENTS FOR STUDENTS: Cathy Corcoran, Eric Gartenberg, Wendy Berkowitz, Lisa lnzone, Dermot Coll, Sue Ankudavich, Ken Ferazzi, Mary Birkel, Steve Goldberg, Jona- than Ziedman, Kathleen McAuley, Karen Murray, Christy Guidice and Marret Sandberg February 6. The debate team really capitalized on the home field advan- tage. Four members took home tro- phies and qualifications. They were Dan Kessler, Steve Lustig, Matt Tratner and Brett Scharpf.
