While the races are indoors the training must be done outside and quite often it is cold or even snowing. This year s girls team was quite successful and they had a lot of fun with trips to such places as West Point and Ya e. This year s captains were seniors Nicole Lambros Enez Lawrence and junior Sue Duval. All league selections included Nicole Lambros Enez Lawrence and juniors Jessica Squillarini and Karen Sebbesse. Nicole Lambros also received All Confer- ence and All County honors as she tied the school 300 meter record. Karen Sebbesse also set a record this one in the race walk event while finishing eighth in the county. ln the league meet both the 4x4OO meters team of Sue Duval, Diane Heraghty, Enez Lawrence and Nicole Lambros and the 4x8O0 meters team of Kathy Williams, Nadine Grimm, Kathy Haven and Jessica Squillarini finished second overall. One of the track team's finest members, Enez Lawrence, was plagued early on in the season with a knee injury. But she came back to finish first in the Bishop Loughlin invitational and sixth at the Yale Invitational for long jumping. She is the county champ in the long jump, and has also qualified for both the state and national high school championships where she placed sixth and ninth respectively. Overall, the track girls met with great success during this prosperous season.

After an opening day tie with Commack North the Maroon Goons lost four straight before the big win. The lone win was not the only bright spot' however as lineman Chris Short made the All-County Team and tight end Scott Habers was an all-league selection. All- league honorable mention selec- tions went to Brian Bluemell Jim Shanahan Scott Henning and Mike Moser.
