LAUGH, AND THE WORLD LAUGHS WITH YOU: Cry and you cry alone. Dawn Sherman prepares to spread a little joy to the world. ONLY 324 MORE! Working out, Tom Otten- walder pulls his weight. PUMPING IRON: Getting into tip top shape is Mike Director. Open the door to the stairwell that leads down to the weight room, and you'lI soon hear the echoes of grunting weight- lifters and clanking metal. The room is filled with determined individuals, some of them athletes working out with the team, some of them just students trying to get into shape. Each spring, the members of the weightlifting club particpate in a lift-a- thon to raise money for new weight room equipment. The success of past lift-a- thons has been transformed into new ma- chinery, new carpeting, and much more. Said Coach Blieberg, The weight room is there for anyone who wants to use it, and hopefully, it will be put to good use. The clown club spends their time clowning around, but with a purpose. This club is all about bringing laughter to peo- ple's lives. Painting their faces, and don- ning brightly colored clown costumes, the members of the clown club visit the hospi- tals and daycare centers. The officers of the clown club, Jim Knott and Dawn Sher- man have worked at organizing both the visits and coordinating the efforts of club members. As they juggle and smile, they bring laughter to many. They remind us that, all the world loves a clown! I Clown Club! weigmiming I

COMPETITORS ALL The math team consists of a group of dedicated math students who com- pete in contests against local schools. Each meet begins with a snack, Miss Merz's famous cupcakes when our school hosts a competition. Then comes the actual event, consisting of those six questions, answered two at a time, individually. The team with the most right answers that day wins the contest. Our team almost did this in the first two meets, coming up just an an- swer or two short of first place - a great showing. MATH CLUB: Miss Merz, Steven Lustig, Bill Tew, Kathy Williams, Sue Seliger, Jennifer Dempsey, Navid Kazemi, Danielle Kleinberg M'E S'H: Howard Friedman, Mrs. Holmes, Howard Bender, Michelle Nobel, Adam Falik, Sean Robinson, Chris Stabile, John Kovacs, Jon Goetz, Steve Lustig, Na- vid Kazemi, Jeff Lackowitz, Bart Ayres, Fiob Gordon, Mark Piesner. COMPUTER CLUB: John Kovaks, Russ Van Scoy, Eric Engalhardt, Jodi Granger, Jennifer Mugno, Bernadette Permisa, Na- vid Kazemi, Mark Brown, David Preisler, Mike Spodek, Bryan Meer, Matt Tratner, Steven Lustig. MESH ! Math!Computers I The computer club welcomes all stu- dents regardless of their level of exper- tise. Faculty advisor Mr. Brennan has high hopes that the club will be able to work with IBM to preview and judge the latest software before it is market- ed. As always, Print Shop remains the favorite floppy. The club has been working in conjuction with the guid- ance department to create pictures and graphics for the upcoming curricu- lum guide. Club president Mark Piesner has kept those printers clack- ing as banners and signs scrolled out. Parents and students were entertained by the computer club's exhibition of Apples for Back to School Night. Mem- bers have kept the student body well- informed by running the electronic message board in the junior cafeteria and keeping the hallways well-lined with information signs. Mr. Brennan says, through the computer club stu- dents with varying backgrounds in computers come together and share their ideas. And that's what it's all about. The first question that comes to when one mentions the MESH is, What does MESH stand mind team for? To set the record straight, MESH is an acronym for Math, English, Sci- ence, History Team. But it also stands for the meshing of many minds in order to form one very successful aca- demic competition team. The team prepares for competition with constant drilling. Trivial Pursuit is one of their prime sources. Who were the first five players to enter the base- ball hall of fame? and Who is on a twenty dollar bill'? are just a few ex- amples of the many questions the team sharpens their skills with. After all is said and done, it is time to see just how well everyone meshes This is accomplished in the four major com- petitions, We are proud to announce that the young scholars excelled in ev- ery competition. Advisor Mrs. Holmes declared l was astounded at the wealth of knowledge which the stu- dents possessed and acquired...lt's a pleasure to watch students enjoy aca- demicsf'

CREATING THE BALANC Yearbookability. lt was more than a sign in our window - and it didn't come easily. lt started last lvlarch, when none of us knew croppers from quad packs. Two workshops and a new publishing company later, the Kingsmen '88 staff was ready.
