,,5,,'?9-544, '94 lm'-I? 'F'- LURGUABI M' The members of the Wind Ensemble, a select group consisting of the music department's finest instrumentalists, all share a common interest-- the love of creating music together as a coher- ent unit. Under the leadership of Ms. Bestercy, the Wind Ensemble always delights its audience at the school con- certs, treating its listeners to a taste of the classics. This year, several of the students were selected for All-County, and Vicki Wiseblatt was chosen as an All-State clarinet player. The cool sounds of the jazz age are revived by our own jazz band, under the direction of Mr. Stentz. The jazz band entertains crowds with classics reminiscent of Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. Dedicated to their instruments and the desire to achieve the sweetest sounds possible, the musicians per- form difficult pieces that require dedi- cation, and an understanding of the moods and tones of the music which are achieved by diligent practice...and all the right notes. THRASH! Jamming with members of his band, Trilogy, is Chris Petrucci. Band, horns up! cries drum major- ette Stephanie Lochman, raising a whistle to her lips. Forward march! Under the leadership of Stephanie, Bobby Caporale and advisor Miss Bes- tercy, the band marched off to a great start. Activities this year included rigor- ous preparation at band camp, spirited half-time shows at the football games, as well as parades on Long Island and in New York City. The highlight of the year no doubt was the Hofstra March- ing Band Festival in October, where our band and kickline performed for a crowd of thousands. Enthusiasm abounds from fruit as a fundraiser to shouting the theme cheer: We are the Maroon and we are the White, comin' at you with all our might!
