eading the Way. On October 1, a future president of the United States may have been si- titng in our senior cafeteria. On this date, the student council hosted its second annual leadership conference. ln attendance were twenty-three schools from all over Suttolk and Naus- sau counties, including John Glenn, William Floyd and Ward Melville . The program was directed by Ms. Eleana Zongrove ot the state education de- partment. She started oft the day with a game called Hlcebreakerf' The name says it all, it was an activity that helped all the students to get acquainted and feel comfortable with each other. The purpose of the whole event was to evince the leadership potential within all ot us. Through various activities, student leaders are taught skills that will help them promote school spirit and unify their respective student bod- ies. The day ended with a discussion concerning motivational theme. .93 Struggling to break out of last EEE Q place, the football team played a tough game against the Ieague's second place team, Sayville. Be- fore a homecoming crowd of 5 more than one thousand specta- ' tors, Kings Park gained an early 9-0 lead on a 37-yard field goal - by senior Jim Shanahan and a touchdown run by captain Brian Bluemell. The Kingsmen needed to hold, Sayville for just twelve more minutes in order to enjoy ' what would have been a stunning upset and a glorious homecom- ing victory. However, the tide changed at the commencement of the fourth quarter. Kings Park turned the ball over three times, as Sayville scored four quick touchdowns in five minutes, giving them a lead that they never lost. The final score was 32-9, in I favor of Sayville. The defeat was not taken easi- ly. The -team had trained hard and felt confident about the game. It was nota grand finale for the seniors' last homecoming, but itwas an exciting game and will not beforgotten. OH NO!
