completed. Spirit and friendship balanced to produce spectacular floats from the senior, junior, sophomore, and fresh- men classes, as members of each grade gathered together to put in the necessary hours of hard work on their individual floats. The process of float- making embraced a wide range of con- trasting emotions, which were over- comeg ultimately, the floats were ln the beginning, there of confusion and deter- Wefe mination, anger and good-will, as each class struggled to agree on an idea for the theme of their float. They then worked through conflict with coopera- tion, surpassed frustrtation to achieve success, building on their theme and working seemingly without fatigue. ln the end, there was naught but a sense of pride. The freshmen were represented in the parade by their float, George Washington's Cherry Tree. The 1 theme of the sophomore class float was the Founding Fathers. The ju- niors displayed their float, the Liberty Bell, which finished in second place. The Mickey Mouse Club presented its own float in the parade, Mickey with a Birthday Cake, representing both the birthday of Mickey Mouse and the Constitution. The winner of the float competition was the senior class. Their float represented the Boston Tea Party with the Senior Teacup float. H J-I ..',zL',, 'fm' . .1 -. --Q., 5-. re-Game Festivities I - -1 ln the beginning, there was darkness and the streets were empty. And the students said, Let there be home- coming, so that we may celebrate our spirit, and the cheerleaders began, Kingsmen got the power, Kingsmen got the will, Kingsmen got the team And the streets were lined with stu- dents, parents, former graduates, grade-schoolers, teachers, and other community members, as the home- coming parade wound its way through Kings Park, past Main Street,,past the our identity and spirit, the weeks of preparing for Sayville, the anticipated challenge. On the field, the pride shone bright, pride for the hard work used in preparation for this symbolic day. And Jj , ' I ' 't' fx. Q 3 f.: F Q E l , I now, that day had arrived, bright and beautiful, a glorious fall day. And the students sang, WE'VE HlT THE TOP, WE'VE GOT SUCCESS, WE ARE THE KINGSMEN, WE ARE THE BEST! fwfr 1 YR: Il- S35 it it r . at g GO FOR lT: And the Kingsmen are off to a ripping start. THE ROYAL COUPLE: Senior king and queen, Jeffrey Marshall and Tracy Alte- brando. THE ROYAL HAMS: Mrs.Travis and Mrs.Lehman. ln contrast to the intense and fierce competition on the football field, there was grace and beauty displayed on the sidelines by the homecoming kings and queens. This year's freshmen king and queen were Nic Mancuso and El- len Beldy. The king and queen of the sophomore class were Timmy Demp- sey and Debbie Krpata and the junior king and queen were Terrence Stauss and Kathleen Popko. The senior court consisted of five royal couples: Paul Picciano and Michele Pierno, Jason Lewis and Jill Bergman, Joel Rosenthal faifzf i' ii., and Sharon Johnsen, Dave Pagano and Meryl Kaye, and Jeff Marshall and Tracy Altebrando.
