This was the most spirited day of the year, the pep rally. Upon en- tering the gym, one heard the marching band play Corona , a parade march with a vibrant trumpet solo by Dan Fischer. The varsity cheerleaders then made a grand entrance jumping, clap- ping, stomping and shouting. They set the mood with their cheer I-lelIo. Next were the fall athletic teams: the stars of the track teams, the soccer teams, and the tennis team enjoyed the roar of the crowd. The band played some terrific tunes as the klckllnelpranced their way into our hearts making the rally a complete success. Nothing but the football team could follow up an act like that. And what an en- trance they made, ieaping into the gym full of enthusiasm and spirit. The pep rally succeeded in instilling everyone with a feeling of confidence and excitement. completed. Spirit and friendship balanced to produce spectacular floats from the senior, junior, sophomore, and fresh- men classes, as members of each grade gathered together to put in the necessary hours of hard work on their individual floats. The process of float- making embraced a wide range of con- trasting emotions, which were over- comeg ultimately, the floats were ln the beginning, there of confusion and deter- Wefe mination, anger and good-will, as each class struggled to agree on an idea for the theme of their float. They then worked through conflict with coopera- tion, surpassed frustrtation to achieve success, building on their theme and working seemingly without fatigue. ln the end, there was naught but a sense of pride. The freshmen were represented in the parade by their float, George Washington's Cherry Tree. The 1 theme of the sophomore class float was the Founding Fathers. The ju- niors displayed their float, the Liberty Bell, which finished in second place. The Mickey Mouse Club presented its own float in the parade, Mickey with a Birthday Cake, representing both the birthday of Mickey Mouse and the Constitution. The winner of the float competition was the senior class. Their float represented the Boston Tea Party with the Senior Teacup float. H J-I ..',zL',, 'fm' . .1 -. --Q., 5-.
