BOX 472, 500 PHIFER ROAD KINGS MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA 28086 OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL TELEPHONE 704-739-5401 ' November 10, 1976 Mrs. Virginia Raymer 615 West Warren Street Shelby North Carolina 28150 j Dear Mrs. Raymer: This is to inform you that the Senior Class in conjunction with the Milestones staff are both proud and honored to dedicate this year's annual to you. The Senior Class, in dedicating the annual to you, has tried to return a part of the energy, time, effort, and concern you have given to Kings Mountain Senior High School and its students over the years. Thank you. Sincerely yours, KAN C Som vate | Khenda hfipl@2 Dana Clemmer, Rhonda Shytles Co-Editors, Milestones Staff Mrs. Virginia Raymer is one of the most enthusiastic and energetic teachers ever to work at Kings Mountain Senior High School. If there is an activity of any kind, chances are good that Mrs. Raymer has had a hand in it. And on top of all this she finds time to teach — and teach well. Her list of projects, programs, and undertakings warrant a book by itself, but to name a few: Mrs. Raymer has been the driving force behind the Junior magazine sale which has met and beaten its goal each year. The proceeds from this project are used for the Junior-Senior Prom and no Jr.-Sr. would be complete without Mrs. Raymer decorating, painting, pushing, and sometimes getting a little angry in order to make the Jr.-Sr. something worth re- membering. She has made the French club a working, productive organization which provides scholarships to students. In the classroom she gives KMSHS students a background in foreign languages that is so necessary for college minded pupils. She has a keen concern for the individual needs of each student and never once hesitates to stay and help if someone has a problem. She comes to school early and stays late. She sells tickets and she entertains in skits. She is active in professional and administra- € ' tive committees. She is outspoken and she ' follows rules to the letter. She is Mrs. Raymer and no one else. She is wonderful. tyes Fiureirt is ¢ - H pla wr es Ad The Muard of EX 13 SHOINIAS 0R0 COLLEOE GREENS ft Anderson Tammie J. Appling SEES Janet M. Bagwell T. Coaches On Though players portray the physical aspects This year we were well blessed by a fine of the games the coaches supply the brain coaching staff. The Coaches were Bob Jones, power and know how for a successful team. Dan Brooks, Dennis Dukes, Bud Bumgardner, John Blalock, and Bo Goforth. Enthusiasm is an essential part of football. Without this no team would be complete. Through much practice and hard work this trait was shown time and time again by the ‘‘76”’ MOUNTIES. ' 103 J.V. FOOTBALL fe aie 90 a 85K Be« AY: NV? King St. To Don, Our Loving Son and Brother, that we’re so proud of. Congratulations, Son, and lots of happiness. Mom, Dad, Sandy, Lynn, and Jim Jr. aa =) a In closing we would like to express our sincere appreciation to our sometimes “rowdy”’ sixth period class; especially Robin Spears who helped us through times when both of us were not present. We would also like to thank Lynn Tate, Sarah DeBruler, and Lisa Freeman, our typists, and Susan Anderson and Brenda Wood, our artists. The staff was always willing to work after school and weekends to finish this book. The photography could not have been done without the help of Walter Vess Jr., Loretta Huskey, and Jeff Boggan. Many thanks go to them and special thanks to I.G. Alexander. If not for understanding teachers who excused many annual staff students to work on the annual this — book could not have been done. Mr. Wheeler also deserves special thanks for taking time to see us, without an appointment, many times during the year. He was always present to make the many needed phone calls. We would also like to thank our parents who always understood the late trips to Shelby and all the long hours put in this book. But, most thanks go to four special people, without whose help this book would have never been possible. Mrs. Shelia Sisk, Mr. Joe Rountree and his ‘‘ulcer’, Mr. J.B. Edwards, and Mr. Charles Hunter deserve lots of credit. | nee Te i, (o - ser A Sw Le se ly A CLALV at | = { ) e. .
